OK done some research but nothing like hearing from the people. I need a new headset for my Blackberry. My old one won't sync up anymore and it was terrible in noisy situations.

My needs are good noise cancellation and clear volume. Style is nice but not a priority although I do despise the ones that look like a leech crawling up around the back of your ear.

The need for sound siloation as prime is largely due to the fact I use it the most when I drive. If I'm not in a rental, I'm in my Jeep and a soft top = NOISY. Top down, well I don't expect any headset will work well in that environment but I'd settle for one where I can roll down a window or have the soft top on.

The Aliph Jawbone seems to get top reviews for it's ability to work in very noisy situations. It looks a bit bulky but I can live with that.

The BluAnt Z9 also gets great marks for noisy environments but seems hard to get around here. Of course I can always order online.

Anybody have experience with these two models or have any recommendations from your own experience? Most of the internet reviews are dated back to early or mid 07 so anybody with info on a recent purchase will be appreciated.

Thanks all!

I've used a Plantronics Voyager 510 w/ my Blackberry 8700, iPhone, and now Curve (8310). On my 8700 also used a BT Jabra. W/ my iphone, I also used the iPhone BT headset.

Hands down, the Plantronics 510 is the best. It's loud, clear and the noise cancellation is great. The Jabra was nice as well, but it was too easy to lose the ear gels, plus you have to deal w/ the hygiene issue with them. The Apple one was utter garbage, sleek but not loud and noise cancellation was horrible.

It's somewhat bulky and doesn't charge via mini-USB but it holds a charge for a while and is the best sounding.

I'm interested, too.

Come on, people! We NEED! \:\)

Mrs. Tuttle has the Jabra JX10; it is stylish but not an outstanding performer. I have the Motorola H710; it is small, but it sucks.

I am seriously considering buying a bluetooth-capable car head unit like the Pioneer DEH-P7900bt instead. I'm willing to hold the phone to my ear if I'm not in the car.

This summer, in California, people in cars will need to use a headset because of the new law.

Bet the CHP can't wait. There's a ton of idiots out there who aren't going to realize it. Or care.

I just found out today that in Virginia you can consume alcohol in a moving vehicle as long as you're not the one driving. My wife is driving on our next car trip. \:\)

I learned it from longtime residents at lunch today. Also, here's a linky. And another.

My Dad has a jawbone. It both isolates outside sound going into your ear, and only transmits actual sounds coming from your mouth, so even people on the other end can hear you in noisy environments.

It has this little rubbery "nub" that rests against your cheek, and uses that as a mic, so that has something to do with it figuring out what noises are from your mouth and what noises aren't. Pretty cool. I can tell when my dad is calling from his jawbone vs. his phone mic too.

Thanks Dan,

That's pretty much what I read about them. A new concept that actually works well. I have also heard that the listener on the other side hears a kind of robotic tone to the wearer's voice. Would you agree? Not really a concern for me as all reviews say the funny tone is preferable to not being able to hear the person.

Besides who doesn't want to sound like a robot??
