I am almost finished with my basement.. and its time I look for decent speakers!

Currently I am running a couple of borrowed Klipsch RP5s that are way to big for what I need...

I have my projector setup, and am about to mount a fixed screen.

My problem with finding decent speakers have been depth from the wall. See pictures

So I stumbled upon Axiom W series on/in wall. However I can't find out much about them. I would like to hear from others that have them?

My room is about 13x20x7.. I recently picked up a SVS 25-31PC sub and a Yamaha RX-V2700 receiver.

The room will be used 80% of the time for Movies/TV and 20% for music etc..

Any recommendations? Budget is always a concern, but I also want a decent sounding system..

Would like to know the benefits of the W22 vs. W3, W150 over the W100.. also the QS8 over the QS4's.

What package do you all suggest?

I was thinking (since I have lots of Pine in the basement) Mansfield Beech is probably the closest match.. Most likely would go with Black covers.

After looking at your pictures, I don't really see a depth from the wall issue. That's not a bad size room. The right main may be a 'bit' close to where you walk up behind the bar or partition but I could live with it.

Your pictures show very deep floor standers there already so using those as a reference, I'd personally still use floor standers and be very satisfied with the room layout.

I guess it all depends on your personal preference and what else the room is used for. I have never heard the in-wall series and I'm sure they are a top notch product but I'd be hesitant to sacrifice the sound of a fully cabineted speaker unless I was desperate for room.

Just thought I'd throw in an alternate viewpoint and let the others speak as to how well the W series sound.

What is the M22s recommended distance from the wall for placement? I notice a port on the back side..

I have placed my M22s upto 1" from the wall and all it does is enhance the bass from them. I usually run them about 4" away.

As Jakewash has pointed out, the M22s can be placed as close as 1 inch from the wall behind. You could consider a pair of M22s mounted to the wall the Full Metal Bracket. When I did the double-blind listening tests to the W22s vs. the M22s wall-mounted with brackets, I was amazed at the bass output of the M22s (no sub was running and I thought there was. . .).

The W22s are very, very close to the M22s tonal balance. If you used M22s with the wall brackets, you'd have the versatility of being able to tilt and swivel them for an ideal soundstage.

I concur. When I wall-mounted my M22s after having had them on a credenza-style entertainment unit, they gained a fuller sound due to their proximity to the rear wall. I found, however, that the angle gradations available on the brackets aren't small enough (for my needs), so I have them pointing straight ahead. I also needed to use the included wedges to adjust the tilt angle instead of aiming them down with the bracket itself.
