Estimated delivery on the 7th, the day before I leave for Arizona for five days Saw that coming. Now I have a serious problem. About five years ago my CD collection was stolen when my house was robbed. I was nearing the end of my college days and opted to spend the insurance money on bills (read: beer) instead of replacing the disks, since I had everything ripped to MP3. At the time it seemed like a win-win decision. Now I'm kicking myself in the butt.

as long as you ripped them at 320kbps, you should be "OK"

Or even 224kbps.
You get no sympathy points for new speakers and going to Arizona.

Who ripped at 320 5 yrs ago? I seem to remember debates at the time between 128 mp3 vs 96 wma as being the "best quality". Only the rich/geeks had the "massive" 60 gb hard drives.
Now of course I'm pushing 1 TB and complaining that FLAC is overly compressed. I love technology!

5 years ago my hard drive could barely handle my collection at 128kbps. Maybe a quarter of them are 192, but nothing higher really. When I started with MP3s I was a poor ignorant college student drooling over Napster. Lets just say I went the quantity > quality route and now regret it. Anything I've bought recently is at least 256.
Luckily I have friends with books of CDs, and a free TB of hard drive storage, so I can borrow the CDs I never re-bought and re-rip them lossless. In any case, I may be patronizing Amazon a wee bit in the weeks to come.

Good news on your speaker order sucks that you'll be away right after their arrival. Have fun rebuilding your music collection.

Thanks.
Any recommendations from you guys on lossless formats? Been doing a lot of reading lately, but having a hard time figuring out what will work best for me. FLAC seems popular, so does Apple Lossless. Space isn't an issue...$120 for a 750 gig hard drive makes me chuckle.
I've been using iTunes lately, because I have a couple iDevices. It seems that most people convert to lossless, and then a high bit rate AAC format for use in mobile devices. What do you guys with do?
