Hi all:

So I'm still looking at upgrading the video chain first in my HT (plan to get PT-AX200U, Elite Screens Cinetension 2 screen - either 100" or 106" diagonal). I currently have an older Denon 70 W 5.1 receiver (forget the model) with B&W 601S1 for L/R and surrounds, B&W CC6, and a Velodyne 8" sub. My room dimensions are 12.5' x 21' x 7' (WxLxH) and seating will be about 11' to 13' back.

My audio upgrade will likely occur in stages:

First --> speakers (M60s or M80s (see below questions) + VP150 + QS8s + EP350)
Second --> new AVR (Denon probably) or separates (Outlaw or Emotiva probably)

So I have two questions related to the speaker upgrade:

1) Which speaker would you upgrade first (fronts, sub, center, surrounds)?

2) How far from the walls are your M80s (I'm concerned that the 27"-29" space from side wall to screen will not be enough room)?

Thanks in advance to everyone for their thoughts - I am very impressed thus far with this forum.

Id, I'd put the surrounds second after the mains.

As to the spacing, since you'll be sitting about 12' away, the mains should be nearly at the side walls, which is okay. The distance from the center of the woofer cones to the side wall should be different from its distance to the wall behind, which would then be the case.

Enjoy the music, not the equipment.

Also, make sure you leave some spacing between the speaker and the wall behind the speaker. 4-8" is a good rule of thumb, your mileage may vary.
