Any interest amongst the Axiom faithful for a thread to discuss the show? It's my favorite show right now. It seems to hit my funny bone just right.

How about that season finale? (Spoiler alert to anyone that has it on TiVo but not watched it yet)

I don't normally watch sitcom television, but I got hooked on "The Office" reruns in the fall. I enjoyed the show so much I stopped watching so I could get the box sets and watch them in sequential order.

I think I like it so much now, because it closely resembles my work environment--i.e. distribution.

Yeah, something about the tone of the show hits my funny bone just right, too. It can be hilarious, touching, and uncomfortable.

Thanks for the spoiler alert--I haven't seen any of the fourth season episodes yet. One of the guys here at work says you can watch them online on "The Office" website.

I think that the community sense of humor I have observed here on the boards has a feel that is close to the show, so I'm not surprised that you like it. I bet that if a few of us got together that we could pull off a nice sit-com.

The NBC web site for the show is pretty good, and with the whole "Dundler-Mifflin Infinity" thing (fourth season, so you may not know what it is - just wait), they do a pretty good job of mimicing what the real D-M site would look like, I'm guessing.

I remember seeing a Pizza by Alfredo web site that was also fake, referring to some of the characters.

And Dwight's blog, Schrute Space, is good for an occasional laugh.

Well, when everyone is ready to write a sitcom, I'm in!

Strangely enough, I haven't checked out the website for "The Office" yet. One of my coworkers joined the virtual office community.

I don't know if I'm ready to join. My nerd scale isn't high enough yet.

It's been one of my favorites since it started, I don't think I've missed a show. My wife doesn't get it though.

I give the show one thumb up. I'm one of the annoying snobs who liked the original British version a lot more.

I've gotta watch that one day.

Although now that I have a love for the American version, do you think that it will make it harder for me to like the British version?

My wife and I enjoy the (americanized) Office. Mostly because we have both worked with the archetypes that are represented in that show. Every single one of them.

Steve Carrell isn't the most dynamic actor in the world, but he's pretty funny as Michael Scott. We liked the new addition to their office, though we sort of guessed correctly from the first instant we saw her as to what role she would start to play (I don't want to say to much here, don't want to spoil it for anyone...).

And as far as the season finale goes. I won't spoil it, but everyone did watch the quick 5-second clip that occured AFTER the last break, right? After the credits (I think..)? A very critical last bit of plot info happened there, so I hope no one stopped & deleted the episode before truly finishing it. I have at least one work-mate who's DVR cut it off.

Talk about a 'Ha!!!' moment.

I've watched one episode of the British version. Not fair to compare the whole series but I didn't really get it. I don't know, it just didn't do anything for me. It's not that I don't 'get' British humor either, as Top Gear is my favorite show on TV (period). I find it hilarious.

Oh yeah, speaking of Coke-bottle glasses. . .

Back when I was in retail a young teen came up to ask me a question. I couldn't make eye contact with him because his thick glasses almost made me dizzy. They looked like they were designed loosely from the Hubble Space Telescope. I felt bad because I'm sure he got teased unmercifully for them and they magnified his eyes to an almost cartoonish level.

Yeah, her character is a nice addition. I think that the creative team behind the show realized that part of the key to continued success of their show will be developing some new story lines/conflicts/tension. The new HR lady does that quite nicely.

I've watched the show off and on, but now you guys are going to make me watch the finale just so I can follow this thread!

My wife got me into watching The Office since the first season. One of my all time favorite episodes was 'The Dundies' from early season 2.

The only negative side effect from watching this show is the inability to resist saying "that's what she said" to anything remotely applicable.

No doubt it will. They're really just two different flavors. After being used to the British version, it feels like the American version is beating me over the head with the jokes, and the character development feels cheaper and not like the primary focus. On the other hand, if you're used to the American version, you might feel like the British version is too slow and boring.

I do love the cast of the US version, at least as far as Steve Carell, John Krasinski, and Jenna Fischer.

Oh, and PeterChenoweth, I can understand not getting into the British version after one episode. It took me a few to get into it, and by the end of the series it was cemented as one of my favorite shows of all-time.

I've watched a fair amount of the US version. I'm sure at some point I'll make a point of watching every episode.

I like when Oscar is talking about Ryan and he says something like "the biggest mistake? The beard." I lol'd so hard because all season I have been saying how terrible the beard is.
The above quote also reminds me of scrubs when "The Todd" has new boss that wants him to be more mature and he makes some sort of deal to be involved in some really great surgery. The new boss says to him "you can't do it that way you have to go in from behind" the camera then show "The Todd's" Eyes light up then it cuts to him outside of the OR taking his gloves off Saying "it was worth it".

"Kicked out of the O.R. Five!" *FFF-PSHT !!!

I think it's mostly #2 as to your question, but he was probably a little out of it due to the revelation with #1.

That was a really good episode. They should've called it The Kitchen Sink - there was something good from nearly everyone.
