I ordered my Axiom's back in July of 2003, they came about 2.5-3 weeks later in the charcoal custom finish. They were all double boxed back then, even my M60's. I also ordered a bunch of cables, which showed up very thoroughly packed in their 9 little boxes :).

My SVS sub arrived on it's own shipping pallet @_@ oh my.

5 Years later (already? @_@) they all sound lovely, I can't wait to buy more Axiom speakers for my computer when it gets put in a separate room. One day, the in-walls will be all over my first house *dreams*

I ordered a VaSSAllo EP500 a few weeks ago and after reading this thread I must admit I was getting very anxious, since I live in the States.

Thinking I might avoid some delivery trauma, I made arrangements with FedEx to hold the shipment at the main Sacramento depot. I picked it up today, and to my dismay the box had a huge rip in the side. Fortunately the EP500 was intact, thanks in part to the nylon wrapping, though there was a lot of dirt and carboard debris inside the box. Glad I got the satin finish :-)

The cardboard seems to be of a similar grade as that used in the packaging I've seen for Taiwanese computer cases, not what I'd expect for high-end audio equipment. The grade of cardboard seems too fragile for single boxing heavy speakers.

The upside is I was lucky, it survived and sounds magnificent. I primarily listen to music and the statements I've read regarding the articulation and musicality of their subwoofers seems to be on the money. Axiom also did a fantastic job matching the finish to my existing speakers.

If you think customs is a hassle now, try getting a hazmat through them :-/

Jim, how'd you know right off the bat that your M80's crossover was horqued?

The dual tweeters and dual mid-range speakers of my M80 were intermittently very noisy and periodically cut out completely but the dual 6.5 inch woofers were fine. At first I suspected a poor gold bridging bar connection, but it was solid. Then I removed the two gold bridging bars linking the two pairs of binding posts to isolate the woofer and midrange/tweeter sections. Checking the DC resistance with an ohmmeter, I found that the resistance of the woofer section was stable as expected but the DC resistance of the tweeter/mid-range section varied slowly (charging/discharging capacitor(s) in the crossover network.) Since all four speakers were periodically cutting out, I reasoned that the likely failure was the crossover network and not multiple speaker failures/multiple speaker interconnect failures. Axiom failure analysis confirmed that the crossover network was the problem.
