Am I suppossed to see the wires for the tweeter in the bass port hole in the back? I see them on one but not the other. Also 1 speaker came with a red and black plastic piece, one in each connector for the speaker wires. I guess they would go where bananna plugs go. Anyway, one speaker came with them and the other didnt.

Dont worry about seeing the wires in the port. Also, those little rubber things are just for... well i dont know what they are for but theyre not important. I keep them on my speakers because they are like little dust covers but I wouldnt worry about it too much. Enjoy your new speakers!

Ninj, welcome. You'll certainly be able to enjoy great music on your M22s, as I have for a little over six years now with mine.

Yes, the openings in the ends of the speaker terminals are where banana plugs would go. Mine didn't have caps on them, and I doubt that dust would be a significant problem. I understand that some(all?)European countries don't permit terminals which would possibly allow their power plugs to be inserted by mistake, but I don't know if this has anything to do with it. In any case it isn't a matter of any significance here.

No, none of the wires to the tweeter are visible through either of my ports, but this shouldn't be significant either, unless the wire was audibly vibrating against something when it's in that position.

Enjoy the music, not the equipment.

Most of my speakers had the little rubber cap, they either fell out or I took them out since I use bare wire connections.

Hi Ninj and JohnK,

John, you are correct about the European connection. To export our speakers to Europe (our international sales are growing), we had to add those little plastic inserts. It's a requirement of all speakers sold in EU countries as a "safety" factor. No connection to dust protection. So we add them to all of our speakers whether or not they're for domestic or international sales.

Ninj, just remove the plastic inserts. As to the wires being visible, it's not an issue.

Enjoy your new M22s.

Regards,
Alan

Thanks everyone for the replies.

I didn't see the plastic inserts as a problem. I was just wondering. My father uses Axiom speakers for his home theater. Thats how I learned about them. He has M3s and M2s and an Axiom center with a couple of NHT subs.

I am really happy with my M22s. Still breaking them in, but my music has never sounded better.

I gather that various European countries have requirements on equipment -- eg. the colors of switches and lights. In a previous life I was told that my employer's minisupercomputers had a window in the cabinet doors so that the tape drive controls could be operated with the door closed due to some European requirement.

Hey Ninja Man,

Don't worry about the break in period, that's just an audio myth, speakers don't need a break in time, neither do cables for that matter... ;\)

Don't listen to him. Your ears should be fully broken in to the new speakers in another 50 or 60 hours. I suggest a series of secluded listening sessions at between 75 and 85db no shorter than 3 hours each.

Drinking guinness while listening will shorten the break in period by 20%.
