I guess the main ones I'm interested in are LittleBigPlanet and God of War III (even though I haven't played the first two).

I'm a big fan of the franchise. it's one of the more replayable games i've come across.

As to the remote, keep in mind this solution, which solves the BluRay vs. IR quandary:

IR2BT PS3 Remote

They're sold out now, but regularly restock and send out new units. I don't have one myself, but have read several good reviews of them.

Though more expensive than the IR2BT, it's in stock.

uh oh... sorry to hear he found the buttons!

OK, so seriously I can't decide between the magnavox and the PS3... Can someone remind me what the disadvantages is of the newer ps3 system? no backward compatibability? no sacd? anything else?
