Hi:

Not sure if this was posted here. Got it from a post on SD forum. Thought might help some of us here. The software is free to download and also explains how to use.

Around the time I bought my 58" Panny plasma (2 years ago), there was quite a thread on AVS about plasma break-in. Links were provided for a couple of DVD (even to download & burn yourself). One of the really interesting suggestions was to just turn on the Discovery Channel and let the TV run for 24 hours. That's what I did (no burn-in from the Discovery Channel emblem) and it turned out fine.

The point of the exercise is to get the little plasma thingies excited and bouncing off each other to turn sharp corers into round edges so they all play nice after that. AS you can see, I am INCREDIBLY technical. \:D

The general idea of a break in DVD for plasma TVs is to burn in the individual phosphorus pixels evenly across the display and be repeatedly cycling should reduce the likelihood of a stuck pixel. Whole idea is even wear during a break in period and reduce the possibility of image burn on the set. The thread I included has specific settings just for the Pio during break in. I am sure you can find more info on AVS.

Yeah, easist thing is to take the set out of torch mode and watch varied programming on it in fullscreen for around the first 100 hours.

My buddy just got a new Samsung A450 and it has a bunch of scrolling or whitewash options to mininmize the chance of image retention.

The thought of "breaking in" a TV always reminds me of some kind of gadgets that Mon$ter sells for "cleaning my electricity".
