The 160GB PS3 coming in Nov. PS3
That's a lot of memory, I'm barely using my 20GB.

Considering you can swap out the hard drives yourself, I think Sony should focus on adding back in features instead of upping hard drive sizes.

You know, it just struck me that this is such an un-Sony-like thing to do. Usually they want to squeeze every last penny out of you.

So I can take out my 40GB original drive and simply put a bigger one in? Where is this documented?

I do mind. The Dude minds. This will not stand. This aggression will not stand man.

There are removal/replacement instructions in the "Safety and Support" booklet included with the PS3. It must be a SATA 2.5" internal drive.

I haven't felt the need to do this yet, but it's nice to know I can do it if I want to.

Yeah, and you are paying a $100 premium for the extra 80 gigs.

No thanks.

So will this model have backward compatability and SACD? I'm having trouble finding the sony model that will still do that.

I don't think so, since Sony isn't putting it in their newer 80GB units.

The news release that I read said that both the new 80 GB and 160 GB would be the current 40 GB model just with a bigger HDD.
