Hi,
I ordered some M60s stand last week and am looking forward to getting them tomorrow. They will be in a carpeted basement with lots of furniture and toys. The biggest toy is my treadmill which I use for marathon training while listening to music. It is currently situated fairly close to my stereo approx 4-5ft. from each of my old speakers. The room is approx.17x22ft. Does anyone have any tips for set-up in this situation....or better yet anyone enjoy running while listening to their Axioms?

Curtis

Ideally, you should move the treadmill much further from the speakers, 10 feet or more. Hopefully, your "stationary runner" has wheels.

yep...that's pretty darn close. You'll not enjoy their enormous soundstage sitting...err jogging...that close to them.

Just a quick update on my M60s. I received them almost 2 weeks ago and set them up right away and have been enjoying wonderful music ever since. Because of the layout of my basement I currently only have them about 6ft apart. The wall dips away about 3ft on the left side and I am not sure if I want my old, blind dog or kids running into them...also wondered how it would influence the sound having one speaker 18" and 1 4-5ft from the wall. I have them hooked up to a NADC320BEE and am using a 13yr old Sony CDP670 cd player(next on the upgrade list). They are wired with ultralink 14g cable that the stereo store guy threw in when I bought my amp. I have been listening to them as much as possible. I love the way they sound especially on good recordings that have lots of "stuff" happening. Radiohead, Mark Knopfler, Tool,Blue Rodeo, all jazz discs...they all sound amazing. Even my wife and daughter's Celine Dion CD's sound great although I was sure the content would fry the speakers or my ears. I sometimes have a hard time making it through an entire CD just because I think of some other song or disc I'd like to hear in the midst of what I'm listening to. Think I have rediscovered my enjoyment and passion for music. Any suggestions for CDs that will blow my mind? I have been getting a lot from the library and usually go out and buy them if I like them. Also, any suggestions on an upgraded CD player or system tips?

Curtis

Curtis,
this one's probably pretty obvious, but Hotel California (audio cd) is amazing! Looking at the list of music you're listening too, you've probably already got Coldplay, but if not, their second disc sounds great.

Thanks for the reminder - I keep meaning to listen to Coldplay. Haven't listened to Hotel Cal in years...have it on record...just bought Dire Straits Brothers in Arms and it sounds great.

Well, I don't know what others think of this, but I just don't find Celine Dion's bestseller albums as recorded awfully "hot."
