I think I fall into the "conservatives in a messy room should not be worried" bucket. Wondering if they need to get out of the city a bit when doing those surveys.

Yes they do. My Masters is in Rural Sociology and one thing you quickly notice in that discipline is that the vast majority of “social science research” targets university students and urban dwellers, rural areas are an afterthought, curiosity or aberration to most “social scientists.” I liked this one linked on the same page. As a recovering “social scientist” I suggest taking anything you read about something published in a “social science” journal with a great big grain of salt.

I really liked studying sociology, very interesting stuff IMO, especially when you get past the intro level stuff. I still study it for fun.  Right now I’m on an elite theories of governance kick.
