I'm drinking a Sierra Nevada Anniversary Ale. At fridge temperature I was incredibly disappointed. Way too hoppy and bitter. After it's warmed up a bit it's really good, actually. Reminds me of a slightly creamier Racer 5.

So... um... anybody tried Budweiser American Ale yet?

Yeah, I thought not.

I don't know if Trappist Westvleteren 12 has been mentioned in this thread as of yet but it is regarded as one of, if not the best beer in the world. It's a Trappist beer brewed by monks. I would love to order some but it's extremely expensive. Below is the link to their website, as well as the "best of" list from Beeradvocate.com.

It's extremely expensive because you can only get it at the source anymore. You're supposed to promise not to resell it, too.

Someday I'll do a European beer tour and will stop there. \:\)

There is one reseller in the US last I checked, but it was a while ago and I don't know how they get away with it. One of my caregivers is in Europe doing a tour and you just reminded me that I need to contact her!

I went reasonably nuts at Wegmans on my way home from picking up my wife's recovered wallet this evening. Well, the real cause of the reasonable nuttiness is that I finally landed the promotion and it takes effect November 1. (Yay!)

I picked up four beers today, none one of which I've had before:

Gouden Carolus Tripel

Gouden Carolus Cuvee Van De Keizer (2008)

Stone Ruination IPA

Sierra Nevada 12th Release Wet Hop Ale

My wife and I are currently sharing the Wet Hop Ale. The label says ship freshly harvested hops straight from Yakima, WA to Chico, CA and get them into the brew kettle in less than 24 hours. It has a wonderful fresh hoppy, citrus-piney aroma and a nicely bitter and full hop flavor. It is quite delicious and I highly recommend it.

I'll update you later once the other beers get opened. \:\) (not today)

Congratulations, Peter.

On the job and the beer selection.

Yes, congrats, Peter!

Lemme go grab a Paulaner and I'll raise a toast. . .

Has any one tried Shock Top? I had it for the first time tonight and while I did not like it as much as a Blue Moon, I found it pretty good for an Anheuser-Busch beer.
