M80 or M60

I am interested in either the M80 or M60 speakers. I have my HT setup in my bedroom (12'x12') with 10' vaulted ceilings, my receiver is 80W, subwoofer 50W, and I listen to mostly low to medium volume levels (65% HT/35% music). I will be adding a VP150 center and QS8 rears as well.
Which of these two speakers (M80/M60) would be the best suited for my situation?

Thanks for your help.

Hi anon

Seems to me that with either the M60 or M80, you could throw away a 50 watt subwoofer. I know the M50s I just got put out much more bass than a 50 watt active sub would. (my receiver is rated at 100 watts per channel.) If your room is 12 x 12, seems to me you'll be a bit pressed for space with these speakers. I know the M50s are large and heavy, I assume the M60s and M80s are even larger. What about a set of M3s to go with a small sub in a modestly sized room? Might work out better (sound wise) and leave some room for the socks.

You'd be surprised at how much space I have in the room! :-) I definitely have the space for either the M80 or M60- with room to spare (I measured). ;-) Right now I have bookshelf speakers but am old fashioned and prefer the big floor standing for the fronts. It's funny because when I use the "Home Theater Wizard" and enter the information, it gives me one choice for a system- M80s, VP150 and QS-8s. But I am just curious as to whether there would be a noticeable difference between the M80 and M60 for my situation.

I'd appreciate more feedback about what people think so I can decide between the two.
Thanks.

I have the M80s(VP150 & QS8) in a 10.5 x 27 x 7 room with a Denon (75x5 8ohms) and the sound is more than loud enough, so the M60s would be more than ample for your room.
But if you want to get the M80s, it wouldn't be overpowering either.

hi,i am an ex employee and am quite familiar with axiom stuff so i would have to suggest that if you have the extra ginos to go ahead and but the m80's.{i have a set and they are the cats ass}.i have never heard a better speaker and believe me you'll have bragging rights!!!!The home theatre wizard is just an axiom money making wizard,,dont heed any attention to itkeep in mind that the sub you have will be useless matched up against them.an axiom ep350 12" sub would be your best friend in the bass situation.let me know what you decide on or if you have any other questions post them and i will do my best to help you
