I want to change my computer speakers(logitech z3). The audiobytes look really good but I wonder if and I want to try some M3. I found an amplifier, the audiosource amp 100w wich is 105$ shipped. The M3 are 338$ from factory outlet for a total of 443$. What do you think? Will the audiobytes sound better than the M3/audiosource amp? Thanks for your help.

The audiobytes are designed for nearfield listening, the M3s are not. The M3s can get by with out a sub the Audiobytes could really use a sub. It is still a personal decision. If nothing else you would have a nice 2 channel system for use elsewhere if the M3s don't work out.

Another consideration is that M3s are relatively large--they're about half of the depth of a CRT and wider than a computer tower, although they're shorter.

Yes, you my find the imaging/soundstage not as good sitting that close, simply stated, you MAY find the M3s just sound weird/wrong sitting that close to them.

I'm just saying the m3's will give you better bass. They may not be the best if your limited on desk space. If your sitting across the room they would be better.

I was using M2s (with a PDR10 sub) as computer speakers and have now upgraded to M22s (danmagicman7 also uses M22s). Both of these systems are infinitely better than my Logitech system. However, I do not have them directly on my desk, they are on stands about half a foot beyond the edge. May not be as nice aesthetically, having the corner desk pulled back into the room a bit, but looks take a far back seat to audio for me.

I have a set of M3s as well, and they do not need a subwoofer to sound full. I know there is someone else on these boards who uses M3s as computer speakers and was happy.

If I recall, Monoman was using his M3's as computer speakers. Not sure how often he checks in though. He seemed happy with them. He was using a Sonic Impact T-amp with good results. I have M3's as mains right now in my HT and they are amazing little speakers and certainly don't need a sub for music.
