Hey guys... (esp Mr. Photo, aka Mark)

I'm considering a digital photo frame as a gift for my dad this year. He's gotten pretty heavy into photography this year, so it has to be a frame with decent resolution. We're buying it to load up with pictures of the grandkid and give to him for his desk at home.

The question I have is about the resolutions and ratios of most of the frames I've seen. It seems like almost all are 16:9 (4:3) widescreeen frames. My dad as the Canon EOS 40D, so as far as I know, his pictures are all in the standard 3:2 aspect ratio.

So, my questions for anyone who has purchased one of these:

Does each 3:2 picture have to be manually cropped before loading to a 4:3 frame for it to fit correctly, or do the frames do cropping/squeezing to make it fit?

If they do some sort of auto-fit, how bad does the resulting picture look?

Most importantly, does anyone have any recommendations for a good frame that is 3:2 and close to or less than $100? (around 7")

If they cost more than that, they're not really worth it as we're looking for a small "novelty" gift to go with whatever else we get him.

Thanks!

Jason
