Yes, those pops and cracks are still ingrained in my memory as part of the song. I'll even go one better--the blank, recordable 8 track. I recorded Deep Purple's Made in Japan on an 8 track. I can still listen to that album today and know exactly where the track changing part of the tape would come around in the middle of a song. Still doesn't sound right unless there's a ka-chuck in the song.

Or the "analog" sound will be just reproduced in the digital copy.

If only that were true.

I love the sound of vinyl, nothing better in the world, all those sacd supcd, hdcode cd, and the like, can not compare to a good long play record. dont care what all you newbies say abutcd,..its better, yatta yatta yatta....there is no substitute for analog play.

my QSC has a nice 50hz filter that allows my volume to get very high,....no distortion.....why do cds have distortion and lp's do not.....??? better format i think

The best LP can't compare to a live performance. Take that!

Unless of course the live performance has crappy amplification. Lord knows, I've heard enough of that.

That's usually the case with metal, right?

I was assuming the best vinyl recording versus the best live performance, but I know what you mean.

I'm thinking more of the quick up/down acoustic style sets you get near shopping centers, or during lunch hours near chic cafes and the like.

But yeah, metal, too... and some jazz, and certainly vocal ensembles...

I have(mostly)fond memories of playing LPs, but although nostalgia for obsolescent technologies is nice and it's remarkable how such a grungy technology was able to do even as well as it did, the facts of modern audio technology shouldn't be ignored. The CD format has an accuracy of frequency response and freedom from noise and distortion that the LP format simply can't match.
