My M3's said they needed the company of some big brothers, so I placed an order for some M80's. Christmas is coming a little early for me. Of course now I'll have to listen to all my CD's over again. \:o Oh well, the torture I must bear. Of course, I have to wait a few days for them to get here. \:\(

And, $100 gift cert. for future purchases. Gotta love that.

Congrats! I wonder if Bing sounds smoother on M80s?? \:\)

That reminds me, I need some Christmas CDs.

Thanks fredk. I'm looking forward to listening to some Christmas music through them. I do have quite a few to start with, but now I may have to get more. \:\)

Congrats on the M80s Ed, you're going to love those new additions. The new H/K 3490 will be a nice power plant for those.

Review and pics are required \:\)

I think so.

Congratulations Ed. I hope you won't be disappointed with the extra clarity and forwardness of the m80s compared to the M3s, like sovkiller(sp?) was, at least initially.

Did you know the M80s are the official speaker of the UPW (United Pirates of the World)? They love them so much, they use their name as a greeting!

No word yet. I think they go out tomorrow. Hoping maybe Friday for delivery but who knows. Got company coming for the weekend so that could put a damper on giving them a work out. Of course it could mean more business for Axiom if I do show them off.

Ok Rick. Just means I'll have to drive down your way and sample some smoked goodies before I load them up and head north to cheeseland. Of course we could hook them up to that little amp of yours and compare the ti version to the v2. I like the idea myself. ;\)

Randy, I had to get them so I could create a triangle to delete the nulls between you and I and Wid. My M3's couldn't match up. Hopefully my H/K will feed them enough or else I have no option but to go Rotel or Odyssey.

So far HKs seem to be able to drive pretty much anything. Doesn't mean you won't be looking for more power anyways ;\)

Michelob Ultra?

Our next door neighbors (the couple who lives up north but owns the house next door and comes down about five or six times a year and gives us their left over beverages whenever they go back) dropped off a 12 pack of Michelob Ultra with one bottle missing before they left last weekend ... I said with a neighborly smile "Aw gee thanks Mary Jo, you really didn't have to" while I was thinking "Now WTF am I going to do with this crap??"

That Michelob Ultra Randy?

Actually they are extremely nice folks from New Josiy Mark.

Randy they do have a rental sign up but it's never been rented during the three years they've owned it, it's their getaway house. I don't believe the owner is very aggressive about renting it but he'll certainly rent it with my recommendation (can you believe that!!??). It's a great little two bedroom two bath house that was completely remodeled about two years ago, completely furnished with a screened pool, a block and a half from the beach and three blocks from Disney Vero Beach Resort.

It's easy to find, it has Sirquack printed on the mailbox. \:D

Hey...I'm from Joyzee, YOU from Joyzee?

Man, if the house were a little closer to Disney, I'd consider renting it! Joyce and I think we'll likely be going this winter....

It's not a bad ride to Disney from here Mark, maybe two hours and is pretty much a straight shot. Should we change that mailbox to read Johnson? \:\)

LOL... might just work! \:\)

Joyce and I haven't traveled in the ten years we've had our dog. Well, I think the time our dog will be with us can be counted in weeks at this point (we thought "days" two weeks ago, but he's rebounded a bit).

We went to Disney on our honeymoon and five year anniversary. A couple of days ago, we had our twenty year anniversary and though we currently can't travel, we likely will have that freedom soon. \:\(

Uh, merch? You might want to stop pressing your nose against the glass for a couple of days. It's Saturday.

Maybe he's stuck to the glass like the little kid stuck to the pole from "A Christmas Story"?

Okay, that's not really the same, but it is. . .somehow.

Oops, my bad, looking back I guess it was a Friday. Tracking says the M80's are out for delivery and due today. I guess I'll just crack in to a case beer and when I go to bed, visions of M80's will dance in my head.

I know FedEx Home Delivery delivers stuff on Saturdays here, but the only way I've gotten stuff delivered by normal FedEx or UPS on a Saturday is if I've paid for Saturday shipping or if they've taken FOUR DAYS FOR TWO DAY SHIPPING. Ha ha.

Two of my shipments from Axiom arrived via Fedex on a Saturday, the only one that didn't was the amp, which arrived on Monday morning 9:30 am via Fedex International Priority after I placed an order on Friday.

Was I not clear? From my experience it would seem that whatever arrangement Axiom has with Fedex does tend to involve expedited delivery services including Saturday delivery. I was pleasantly surprised the first time they showed up on Saturday and I didn't have to wait until Monday, because as Charles points out, that does not appear to be the norm with standard Fedex Ground.

Ok, I guess I better take my thread back again for a bit anyways. The M80's came this morning. I've had a little time to put them to work. They are absolutely amazing. Although the boxes were pretty damaged, the speakers were just fine and are cranking out as expected. Wow is all I can say right now. The bass is incredible and the clarity is tremendous. I will post more as time goes by. I will also put them head to head with my mighty M3's and try to give my perspective on their differences and similarities. For now, I must rock on. So..........the thread is back in your hands my friends. \:\)

So.......I've had some time to break myself in to my M80's. I'll just touch on some of my initial impressions for now.

First off, these things are huge, but actually, they don't take up any more floor space than my M3's when they where on stands.

Next, the bass from these bad boys is incredible. They seem to energize the room, tight and fast when called for and low and lingering as needed. Probably the thing I have enjoyed most is being able to listen to music as low levels but still having the bass and incredible clarity. TV and movies are just that much better as well.

Another thing I have noticed is that it is hard to tell that there are two speakers playing unless the source calls for it. Even when off center, the sound seems to come from somewhere in between or even outside the speakers.

I have not found them to be bright or harsh in any way. Just detailed and clear. They like to be played loud and do so without effort.

Besides what I have mentioned, they are beautiful and the wife is even enjoying them. Good stands for her Christmas knicknacks.

I know many of you have M80's, but I just wanted to post my thoughts on my newest additions. They are incredible speakers.

merch, you've just nailed my exact feelings about the M80s--including the size! I pulled the right one out yesterday so I could put the lights on the tree, and geez, it was huge! Back in place, not so much. The imaging is indeed fantastic. Congrats!

Nice write up merchman, welcome to the club. I am still dealing with the size issue in my basement, I loved having them in a 2 channel system upstairs till the wife said the big things need to go back down stairs \:\( , all well, I still really love to crank them up downstairs too, just not as convenient most days, I have to suffer through M22s upstairs now
