I just signed up for the info on the BR Player. I will buy it next year in the spring, and move the DV-983H to the family room.

More kudos on the review Steve!! I've been on the fence between an Oppo DVD player, or their new Blu-ray player. Blu-ray is quite possibly the future, but I've been held back by purchasing said player firstly from what I've read regarding Sony, and also because I'm still on a SD television. Seeing that Oppo's players are touted for their audio and video (I don't think I'll notice much difference with my SD set) it's probably more viable for me right now until I get a HD TV, and I can at least enjoy the audio quality which I'm sure will be a vast improvement over my approximately 8-year-old Sony 5 disc DVD carousel.
My pocket will probably be lighter shortly after the holidays are over thanks to your review.
