Says the 1090 is clipping with his M80s Mike...

I am selling my rotel rb1090, as i keep clipping it, it runs out of power way to soon at 4 ohms, and it says it has 780 into 4 ohm and like 1.5 of headroom, so i dont see the full out 780 watts, as im clipping way to soon. does my pre-amp having 14v of gain make a difference..?

I had to search all over the boards to try and find which one of the danged EMOTIVA threads the OP had mentioned the 1090 clipping on him.

I've always wanted, built the cabinets for and intended to implement an RMB-1095 along with one of those RB-1090s for the power for our 7.1 system ... upper management has repeatedly shot that particular project down, I'm oppressed.

Nice! It is my favorite of the Islay :).

I’m armed and I’m drinking. You don’t want to listen to advice from me, amigo.

Ummm, I know I'm disabled, but please for the love of Pete tell me that it's only physical, and not mental also, because I swear I'm seeing double (posts) \:D \:D

I like many single malts

have still bottles in my closet.
2 bottles balvenie 25 yr.
a little lagavulin left maybe a couple sifters
1 bottle lophroaig 10 yr. little harsh to palette
several bottles of bowmore 17 yr.
1 bottle oban 21 yr.
3 bottles of clynelish 30 yr.

I get these when i go on our annual carribbean cruises at the duty free shops,...most of these bottles are well over 350 dollars here in chicago, but there about 75-100 at the small shops in st. thomas and St martiin. good buys.

anyway...........
as far as tyhe statement thta rotel is better, thats a bold statement. emotiva xpa-2 is a great amp, and much more musical than the rotel, despite the 200 less watts at 4 ohm load. im selling the rb-1090,..iots absolutely mint, been in the attic past 3 years as we remodeled, i just recently opened it back up for use...less than 300 hours on this beast..
