I still have about 15 days to test my m22 and was wondering if I should trade up to the m40. I like everything about the m22 so far except:
-it needs stands and after the cost of the stands I am paying more than the m40
-lacks midbass punch and general bass (main concern)

My jbl pb12 sub sounds best with the subwoofer cutoff at 50hz. if i set it higher it will sound boomy and will intefere with the midrange of my mains. That's why I need some mains that can go down to 40-50hz with ease for seamless integration. I am wondering if the m40 will do that for me - that is go down to 40-50hz with ease and provide more bass and midbass punch.

I am aware that going with the m40 instead of m22 means losing a bit of midrange clarity but gaing more low end extension and general bass and midbass punch.

My question is how noticeable this loss in midrange clarity will be? Would it require an side by side a/b test and critical listening to notice the difference in midrange clarity between the m40 and m22 ti or could you tell the difference even when listening to the m22 in one room and then going into a another room to listen to the m40. The latter case would suggest a very noticeable difference that a casual listener like me will detect and be concerned with but if its the former case i will just go with the m40.

Outside of the lower bass response from the M40s the differences are pretty subtle between these models in regards to the performance. If you have a large space and lots of power you may want to think about the M50s as a possible option also.

i have personally heard just about everything that axiom has to offer and i would say if you watch a lot of dvds/movies i would personally say to stick with the m22's,the m40's would be a waste of money.i truly believe they are superior{personal pref only}
