That reminds me that we recently put a rug down (over tile) in the dining area of our great room. The living portion already had a rug where the theater setup is. I need to run another auto calibration. I bet it doesn't change much.

My two rules......

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Tweak it correctly the first time, then leave it the F*** alone.

I am the geek of [sensible]tweek. No mere levitating wires will do for me. I have:

- changed the orientation of my speakers to best suit the acoustics (so what if you have to crawl over the speakers to get into the livingroom)
- bought a book on acoustics and read it... twice
- learned REW and ran it 3 times from various positions in the room... as a warm-up
- spent many hours reading up on various esoteric acoustic treatments and built some
- and the list goes on

Adjusts square horn-rimmed(those are back in style aren't they) square gold rimmed glasses, secures pocket protector and goes to look for room mode calculator.

Sure, bring it on over to my place. It could take a while though. I'm a perfectionist.

I love to tweak and I used to have patience in my natural state, i.e., before I became a citizen of the corporate state; but now I have no time for hobbies, since graduate school, in an increasing spiral, I "spend" all my time working to pay off my student loan, and the rest of my financial obligations.

That's why why I bought the 1400 so I could fix everything without having to constantly twiddle, which is time I can no longer afford; you know I think the 1400 is a good solution in my setting. I'm still twiddling, but I think it's the fault of other weak links in the chain; time will tell. Truth be told (my confession) I wish I'd picked up an 3808 so the outcome would have been more clear, although still I don't kick myself because prior to the firmware upgrade it wasn't clear to me that the features were cutting edge.
