Well, we've had a major thaw here in Peterborough, +9 yesterday and +3 today with gusts up to 75 km/h. These are some pictures from my parents place that my sister took of the culvert/road drastically flooded over. It's never been flooded over to this extent, the water level is up at least 8 feet. To give you guys an idea, you could paddle a canoe through the culvert no problem.

The above picture really puts things in perspective.

Wow, that sure is a lot of water. Be careful up there.

Cam, you might wanna tie some pontoons onto your chair. Just to be safe.

A day before picture would have looked like a winter wonderland with probably a foot of snow on the ground. We've had the same weather here in Kitchener. We have always gone through freeze/thaw cycles in sw Ontario, but this one, along with tons of rain is quite extreme.

Good suggestion!! I forgot to mention that the cop in the SUV was blocking the other side of the culvert until the cruisers showed up, and then he drove across the culvert to chitchat with the other cop. Then shortly after that the person in the white car tried to drive through the water LOL. I don't claim to have any more intelligence than the next person, but it makes more sense to me if the SUV stayed where it was originally to block it off entirely.

Oh wait, the cop in the cruiser probably had some fresh coffee and doughnuts from the Coffee Time. \:\)

I'm in Caledon just NW of Toronto, they said we hit 16C very early this morning. Can you believe these winds!! I have to call my roofer this week, my roof is less than a year old and I lost a couple of shingles (lost some last year too). Lots of houses here have minor roof damage. Hardly any snow left at the moment but I suspect we'll get some into next week.

Yes Fred, there were snowmobiles on the lake when I was at my parents house on Thursday for the holidays.

St. Catharines reached 17C at 1:30AM this morning, at about seven hours later it was 15C, now at 11:58PM it’s just 2C. Snow has virtually disappeared.

I love the Peterborough/Rice Lake area. A friend has a cottage on Clear Lake just north of Youngs Point. Love the Kawartha’s.

Funny, I love the Niagra area. It has lots of tasty wines.
