That is ridiculous. I would say that I can't believe it, but I know some people that can't get rid of their tapes.
I was at a friend's house admiring his new plasma. In the media rack were new VHS tapes still wrapped in plastic. But wait, they weren't new. His wife was so anal that she only cut the plastic at the bottom to remove the tape but kept the remaining plastic on it. I gave them the eye roll and told them you can get all of that on DVD. But then again, do you really need old Prince and Mariah Carey videos at all?
They probably still use the cassette player (maybe even 8 track?) in their car...

It is an interesting concept but it is going to appeal to only a very small segment of consumers. People will be hard pressed to spend that much of a premium on a Blu-Ray player for VHS. However, considering Panasonics success in the Blu-ray market so far they might be able to take more chances.
