Just goes to show that you can never trust movie critics. Why do I need someone to tell me what I should and shouldn't enjoy?

A little off topic, I suppose, but don't we all have movies that we keep in our little collections that the critics SLAMMED and that we've watched 10 times or more? I'll confess if someone else does! Go on, name names!

Now that one will be hard to beat!

I adore "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun", circa 1984. My VHS cover has almost faded off! Sarah Jessica Parker, Helen Hunt, Jonathan Silverman - and a 12 year old Shannon Doherty! Classic.

Did the critics slam The Princess Bride?

Pump Up the Volume and From Dusk Til Dawn. And The Princess Bride, if that one counts.

I've got to agree with Spiff on Zoolander. My wife and I were less than impressed the first time we watched it as I think our expectations were too high. But I have watched it countless times since on cable and that movie really grows on you. The 2001 Space Odyssey spoof with the computer is a classic scene.

Dude, Where's My Car also grew on me the more times I watched it on cable. Not the finest piece of cinema ever, but it's pretty funny.

Twisting this around, a darling of the critics that I thought was terrible was The Hours. Shows what they know.

In the "Dude, Where's my Car" vein -- I also highly enjoyed "Road Trip" (with that Canajun Tom Green)

I couldn't agree more. I loathed that movie. If I weren't with a group of friends, I would have walked out about 20 minutes into it. That movie made the idea of a warm bath and a razorblade seem comforting. Bleck...
