Hey everyone, I am new to the forum and have a question. I have always been curios about axiom since i have started this hobby/obsession. I built a home theater in my basement about a year ago and was looking at Axiom speakers until I got a decent deal on some Jamo c809's and a c80 center. I currently have 4 in-ceiling surrounds and I am going to upgrade to the QS8's, and now I am thinking about the M80's and the 150 center. Would that be an upgrade? I know about the home trial, but just curious if anyone has some opinions on this. Thanks in advance, Matt.

Well,

They are discontinued, so I assume you are buying them used (or floor models). I have not found any glowing reviews of them, nor have I found anything particularly negative. It all depends on the price I guess... The Axioms will provide you a 5 year warranty. I do not know what you would get with the Jamo's.

If the deal can wait, try out the M80's and see if you like them. In my opinion, reviews do not compare to your own ears. Listen to them both and buy what you like.

I currently have the Jamo's in my theater and have had them for about a year. I like them, but Axiom has always been interesting to me. I want to upgrade the surrounds to the QS8's which I will do soon and I thought if I am going to upgrade the surrounds, why not everything else?

Welcome MM,

The only Jamo's I've ever heard were some surrounds, I think the Q's are in a different league. Can't help you on the 809's, never heard them. Axiom does not sell through Amazon, Electronics Depot, Nextronics, and other internet shops like Jamo, they only sell direct to the customer.

Here are some specs, looks like the 80's are more efficient, and I know they can handle lots more power.

● Design: Three-Way, Ported
● Drivers: One 1" Silk Dome Tweeter,
One 7" Midrange, Two 7"
Woofers
● MFR: 30 Hz - 24 kHz
● Sensitivity: 89 dB/W/M
● Nominal Impedance: 6 Ohms
● Power Handling: 200 Watts
● Dimensions: 45.6" H x 9.9" W x
16.6" D

If you'll recall, they do have listings on Amazon.com.

Hey, they do; in the Amazon Marketplace. But the shipping is not free. For instance, the M80s cost $4.49 to ship. I know where I'm buying. \:\)

Welcome to the forum.

The few Jamo's I have heard have been nice, nothing I would write home about. They sounded very much like most other speakers, smooth/rolled off top end, decent bass and midrange, an all around nice speaker, could have been the room too, very sound proof.

Axioms on the other hand play the source as it receives it, good or bad. You really should try to audition a set by looking in the Hearing Things forum for some one nearby willing to audition or call Axiom to see if they have some one not on the list they could contact for an audition, barring this you will need to order a set, start with the M22's cheaper to return if you don't like their sound. The M22s sound very similar to the M60's and if you decide you like the M22s you can then upgrade to the M60 for just the differential in price, no extra shipping charges \:\)
