Just wanted to say a big thank you to everybody who took the time to answer my questions. I've just placed my order as we speak. I'm not going away from the board.. I will definitely post pictures once I'm done with the installation.

I'll be moving the M22 to my computer room and move the AX1.5 from the computer room to the bedroom.

The final setup of the living room will be:
2x M80
1x VP150
4x QS8
1x PSB subsonic II sub 12"
pio-vsx1018
emotiva XPA-3 (4 ohm rating @ 300 watts per channel)

should be enough to dry our hair after a shower

Gallery of the current setup

Luc,
Did you order from the factory outlet? I ordered mine from F.O. Friday evening 3/6. They shipped Monday March 30th. :o) I ordered exactly what you did plus a pair of M60's to compare to M80's. They are due to arrive Monday 4/6 on the left coast in California. :o)

Congratulations!

Yes they're coming from the Factory Outlet. My M22 and QS8 came from the outlet and they were in perfect shape. We chose black so it could blend easily with any decoration changes. We initially checked the vassalo series but black is easier to blend with any room colors. We have four different wood finish&colors in the living room, we're already at the limit.

I was almost open to get the M60, the wife said NO! It was M80 or nothing. To be more precise, she said: M80+VP150+2 MORE QS8 or nothing! I didn't have to bargain to have the amp either..

I was thinking about getting the emo xpa3 but it seems there are some issues with emotiva's amp and some axiom speakers..

Any good power amp recommendation? I would prefer buying something from a Canadian store. Don't recommend the a1400, it's out of my wallet's reach.

LOL \:D I really struggled with color choice and decided on Mansfield Beech. We are hoping it goes well with our maple cabinets and shelves. Fingers crossed. ;\) I'm sure it will be fine. :o)

Take this time to build your stack of demo material. \:\) For some BRD new selections, scene 2 from Bolt and any of the action scenes from Quantum of Solace work pretty well.

Bryston is a good, Canadian, power amp maker. But getting 7 channels of 200 Watt+ power that's stable into 4 Ohms isn't going to be cheap no matter where you look. Though you could just get a 2-channel amp to start for the M80s, and run the rest from the AVR.

I think you are really going to enjoy the system. I'm interested in your comparison of the M22s to the M80's in terms of imaging.

they are expensive .. anything similar to the Emotiva? the xpa-3 is 599$ + shipping + taxes + exchange rate.

And yes, I do intend to power all QS8 through my AVR. I will probably connect all seven to the AVR and see if it works.

Please do try all channels powered by the AVR. Because what you've ordered is pretty much the same setup I'm headed toward, with the same Pioneer too.

This reminds me of a post by Alan that I came across trying to figure out the whole amp power thing. It helped me understand some of JohnK (and man others) was talking about, while seeing the utility of bigger amps and better amp sections in AVRs. I'm sure I'm the last one to see it, but I'll post anyway.

Charles,
Thanks for posting the link. Since it goes so against what one would 'think' about amp power, I should read that and other similar articles weekly! ;\) So I bookmarked it again... \:D

Congrats Luc.

I think power to cost, the Emo's or the Outlaw M2200 are the best value right now. If you find the Xpa shutting down, although I highly doubt you will, you can return it and try 3 M2200s from Outlaw.

Mel, you are never going to see your amp again <evil laugh> ha, ha, ha, ha </evil laugh>

Mel,
Maybe this is a good time to share with Jay which of your many guns are your favorites. That's a nice 12 gauge, but the resulting splatter might get on your amp. Now, that would be a shame! Also, no hollow points for the same reason. Maybe just empty a quick clip from the Glock. (Well, maybe not the whole 17!) ;\)

Jay, I'm curious about Axiom's repair time. Did they tell you when the 1400 would be shipped back. Sorry to hear about their findings on the cause. Hard to swallow user error destroying such a fine amp. Let us know how long they expect it to take.

Charles,
Unless Jay fried a second amp this week, not putting it past him (crack habit and all ;\) ), but he fried his 3808 last week, not Mel's 1400. Or at least that is what he told MEL. You may have just spilt the beans, Charles! ! ! !

Normally, if the buyer has not sent the speakers back within the 30days guarantee, you get payed the next pay period, a few weeks.

Familiy Man, if others don't mention the audition at the time of purchase, just call Axiom yourself and let them know.

I did submit your name.. It's 30 days after that I've received my speakers, the speakers aren't shipped, they are from the FO..

expect 4-5 weeks total..

that's long! it's a good thing that my current setup sounds excellent.

Hello Luc,

I was out of town. great to be back in action. it's going to seem like a million years that 4-5 weeks. I hear that axiom tries to ship earlier if possible. I will definetly visit when your setup and ready my friend. Say hello to Natalie for us.

thanks.

I was out of town. great to be back in action. it's going to seem like a million years that 4-5 weeks. I hear that axiom tries to ship earlier if possible. I will definetly visit when your setup and ready my friend. Say hello to Natalie for us.

thanks.

I'm not anxious or excited in any way.. I already love my system. I don't mind the date they get in.

I did another purchase, a pair of Mirage Omni 150 for the bedroom. They're incredible!!! I did a few test between JBL/Axiom Ax1.5/Axiom M22/Mirage omni 150 and the Mirage blew them away. I wanted a simple setup (2.1) with good sound and was trying to not have a speaker in every corner. The Mirage is throwing the sound in a large dome instead of a narrow cone and did magic. The were discounted at 200$/pair. Added a sub and voilà! Kick ass setup!
