when i purchased my system about a year ago, it came with the vp100. the more i hang out here, the more i wish i got the 150. i have a $$$$ coupon and i'm trying to convince my you know who that a vp150 b stock makes sense. what can i expect to hear with the 150 vs the 100. yes when home alone, i do crank the other pieces of the epic 60 system.
thanks
dan

What, in your opinion, are the shortcomings of your VP100?

I have one, too, but I have never been disappointed with its performance. It is so much better than the larger/beefier Paradigm CC-350 it replaced that I was instantly amazed and satisfied with it. Although I'm sure I'd find the VP150 to be a superior speaker if I heard it -- especially in an A/B comparison with the VP100 -- I am perfectly willing to let myself "suffer" with the great performance of my VP100.

While I have the VP150 and haven't heard the VP100 to compare, I agree with pmbuko that we tend to find fault where there isn't and recommend bigger is better assuming there are no budget constraints or the budget can be "stretched". I couldn't stretch to get QS8s but I have absolutely no regrets or feel like I am missing anything with my QS4s.

There's nothing wrong with the VP100...that being said, the VP150 is quite an improvement. I had them both in my home at the same time and for me, the extra bucks were worth it... a richer sound, but what really sold me was how much better it sounded when listening away from the sweet spot...your mileage may vary

When I bought my Axioms, I purchased the vp-100 and after reading and being overwhelmed by the rave reviews of the vp-150 I had to convince the wife that it would be better. After she threatned to kill me for the continual changing of my mind (I also returned my receiver during this period) I didn't and haven't looked back. I listed to both of them a few times, and the 150 has a lot wider soundstage. It is probably one of the single most noticible improvements.

By wider soundstage, do you mean it is clearer and more detailed? As far as I know, a single speaker can't produce a soundstage, since that requires stereo.

Hi,
I think Rick means it has wider lateral dispersion, because there are two tweeters, one on each end of the VP150, which tends to give it broader, more consistent coverage over a wider area than the VP100. The VP150 will also play louder and cleaner in bigger rooms (more drivers = better power handling).
