I watched "Valkyrie" this morning . . . very good audio track (DTS-HD) with some spectacular dynamic scenes (gun shots & airplanes). Definitely worth watching & listening.

That's wild Jc, wife and I watched 'Taken' Friday night and we watched 'Valkrie' last night, both very good movies.

"I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want. If you are looking for ransom, I can tell you I don't have money. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills; skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you let my daughter go now, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you."

Classic!

Sounds a lot like Ransom, which I shall never watch again.

I liked Ransom. I liked the reference to The Time Machine. I thought it's certainly one of Ron Howard's better movies.

I wonder if we're talking about the same movie. I was thinking of the Mel Gibson vehicle with Gary Sinese as the villain.

Better than “Ransom” but that’s not saying much IMO. I thought “Taken” was ok if you take out the first 20 or so minutes which contained some pointless character building (for this type of movie anyway) and the setup for the main premise. Once the action starts it’s fun to watch but nothing more than another cut-and-paste contemporary Hollywood “secret agent” action movie. I’d much rather watch reruns of “I Spy,” “Man From U.N.C.L.E,” “Mission Impossible (TV)”…

Friday I watched all of Kiddy Grade

I really enjoyed this. Unlike most reviewers I didn’t find the early episodes slow even though they were “assignment-of-the-week” fare. There are so many plot twists I could see how it might get confusing if it wasn’t watched in one sitting, but by watching it that way the plot twists kept it fresh. No an epic Sci-Fi anime but very good animation, voice acting and soundtrack.

Saturday I watched all of Full Metal Panic

I think I have to part with the masses on this one. It’s definitely worth watching but it just didn’t live up to the hype for me. The first story arc was fantastic and had it held up it would be on my top 10 list but as it progressed it became repetitive and predictable. Especially tedious was the relationship development between the main male and female characters. Also as the episodes progressed there seemed to be increasing use of filler. It was still a entertaining watch but just not good for watching all in one sitting.
