I just ordered the epic 80 500 system and I have a question about securing the QS8s to the wall.

My only choice is to have the QS8s a foot below the ceiling. That being the case, should I have ordered the Full Metal Bracket so that I can tilt them down slightly, or will they be just fine with the supplied bracket

They'll be just fine with the included T-Bracket. No worries.

Hey Slim,

Depends on how high your ceiling is, my Qs8's are about 7ft off the floor and work great, they are not pointed downward.

As long as you have enough breathing room for the top driver you should be fine. I've thought about building something to angle them down slightly, but not sure it would make a lot of difference.

Just a note for those mounting the QS8s, I found when mounting mine that it was easier to mount the speaker on the supplied T-bracket if the tongue on the bracket was bent outwards slightly. This way it is easier to get the clips on the back of the QS8 to engage more readily with the T-bracket.

That is an excellent tip when mounting with the t-bracket. I did that as well. The speaker "catches" the back slots so much easier when doing that.

Welcome to the forum shady,

It is not possible to tilt the QS8's with the supplied t-bracket so if you want to tilt the QS8's down the full metal bracket is the one to use, other than that the t-bracket works wonderfully.

When I was testing titled vs flat with 'T' brackets, I could tell no difference directionly. I recommend flat against the wall for a cleaner look and keep the $100 in your pocket. But be sure you have some space above QS8. Alan says 2-3 inches is OK. My gut thinks 6"or a bit more might be better than OK. ;o)
my 2¢ (may be worth less in this economy)

The t-brackets are fine, just try to catch a wall stud when mounting the brackets, don't want one of them little suckers bouncing off yer toes, OUCH! I have mine about a foot below the ceiling and they sound great(the speakers, not my toes).
