Thanks everyone now it seems everytime I change a CD in my new Oppo BL player I loose the sound and have to turn it off and turn it back on to get the sound and it will be fine unless I change the CD again in which case I loose the sound but still have pic and have to turn the unit on and off again to get sound. Any ideas anyone?????? all the problems I am having AHH dont think I like that Sherwood 772 AV I think I could done better plus I think I would have spent more money on this if I had to do over. The M22s are great for movies but so so for music. I think I need a bigger sub than the EP175 I think I want to trade it in for the 500 Good bad idea?? I do have both the 5.1 analog cables and the HDMI connected can I have both connected like I do without any issues?

Now granted me saying the M22s are so so for music doesnt really mean much because I doubt I have everything set as it should. I really thought home theater would be alot easier than it is but I can see how its easy to become a AV Addict

I am going to assume the problem is that I have both the 5.1 analogs and the HDMI connected is why I experience no sound is because its playing through the analog when I am on HDMI. I am going to bet the issue stops once I disconnect ther analogs well I hope it does anyways

Does the Sherwood have a way to display what inputs and outputs it is using at any given time? I can hit a button and display this on the TV with my Denon. Makes troubleshooting this type of problem much easier as it would confirm your theory.

Can't remember if you mentioned in your room size in previous posts but it sounds like you are craving more bass. If that's the case, I suspect you would be very happy with the renowned clarity of M22s coupled with a major boomer.

Sound theory number two: Your avatar (perhaps incorrectly) makes me think that maybe you are a Metal Man. Much of the metal I play is heavily compressed and probably sounds the crappiest of all on my M60s. When it's good it's Awesome but much of it sounds compressed to hell on really good accurate speakers. If this is the case, perhaps actually a less accurate speaker would be more forgiving for you. You'd be giving up the high end sound from good sources though. Definitely a trade off as now I bet you would miss it. Depends on your listening habits though. Whatever makes you the most happy in the end is the correct choice.

I listen to alot of classic rock not much metal anymore. I guess I outgrew it. I also listen to some jazz and blues.

Blows that 2nd theory then.
I find most of my Blues CDs and the few Jazz ones I have to be stereotypically way better sounding than most of my rock stuff.

How big is your room? My guess is that the EP175 is not enough to fill in for the gap between the low end of the M22's. For the same price as the EP500, you could get the M60, and for just a bit more, the M80's, that produce about as much bass as you could ever want with music. I think if you are fairly happy with the EP175 for movies but are looking for better musical speakers you would do very well with either some M60's, or M80's.

While waiting on my EP800 amp to arrive I was shocked by how well my M80's alone kept up with the full range of musical notes. I was starting to think I didn't even need a subwoofer! They play almost to the very bottom of the musical range. The subwoofer is mostly just there for LFE during movies.

When you view the M22's in the product section they recommend either the EP350 or EP500 for them. The M22's play down to 60 hz... the M60's play down to 37 hz and the M80's play down to 34 hz... though my 'seat-of-the-pants' meter has them playing even lower than that!

Thanks for the input but now back to my problem with the Oppo BDP-83. I have it hooked via HDMI and set on bitstream. The problem is once I change a CD I loose all the sound but still have video and the only way I get sound again is to turn off then back on the unit. This happens EVERY time I put a new CD in. Why is this happening?

That is a very unusual problem indeed, I have never experienced anything like that. It sound as if its an issue with the player and not the reciever though. The reciever wouldn't even know the CD was being changed. My advice would simply be to call the Oppo service center and see if they have any advice for you. There was just a thread not long ago about how good their customer service is, so take advantage of that.

Worst case scenario is they'll ship you a new unit to replace your faulty one if indeed your unit is faulty!
