this question was sent to amie at axiom and whe recommended posting it here. i am planning on buying m22s for mains. currently putting together an entertainment center. plan is to place the m22s in side cabinets, pretty much flush with the front. so they will be in a cabinet, but the front should be completely exposed. does this present a problem with the sound quality? thanks..........

not the best option, but workable. i think there is actually another post somewhere on this site about the same thing. If possible give space above, behind and to the sides of where m22tis will go. Also, if possible put the m22tis a little out in front of the enclosure(not much, but just a little. This will give more breathing space to the speaker

If space is required behind the M22s, how does this relate to wall mounting them?

is it a problem with reverberation or something like that? i could leave at least 3 inches to the side and more on top. i could even line the inside with sound-deadening material.

i have heard wall mounting them is fine. The FMBS which axiom offer put the speaker i think 2 inches away, which alan told me was fine. Just dont put it flush against the wall/cabinet.

its not about reverberations, its about letting the speaker breath. Ideally all you need is to have the speaker 2 inches inches out from the cabinet. This prevents the cabinet interfering with the soundstage/sound quality of the speaker

basically if you have it a little in front of the cabinet, the cabinet will have no effect on the sound.
