the drivers vibrate constantly. Even when I don't have anything playing, doesn't matter if the denon 3808 is on or off, the drivers vibrate. i can hear it and feel it.

Other things that might help explain/find a solution?:

*Even when I put the cross down to 40 it still does though not as obvious but then I hardly get any bass when it's on 40, same thing if I play with the volume... the higher the volume, the more evident the vibration

*vibration stops when I unplug the cable from the line in BUT if I touch the line in jack (or the line out jack for that matter) with my finger, it vibrates again.

I know I'll be going down to the factory next week but until then...

Any ideas? Thanks

Oh and btw, my friend has the EP500 and after helping her set it up I was more impressed with hers than with my 800... so I now KNOW that something wonky with it.

Well, Maj, it may be your exceptionally high personal magnetism(or electricity), or when you touch the input it's then grounded through your body and a ground loop is created. It'd be remarkable if the ground loop current was high enough to create a driver movement that could even be felt(unless you meant with your finger), though. Does the chassis ground screw(if the 800 has one)make a difference? No brilliant ideas; let Axiom check it.

I believe the 800 does have a ground screw. In a previous thread I asked him to also attach a cheater plug to the 3 prong power cord but I don't recall him ever trying any of those suggestions.

Loosen the ground screw and see if that works. Do you have cable TV? If so you might need a ground isolator... I had a hum similar to what you describe with my ep500 and axiom's ground isolator solved the problem.

John, I do feel it when I touch the sub, but also when I sit on the couch (the sub is right behind my couch and I can indeed feel it).

House, I did take your advice and took out the ground screw, helped a bit with the problems I had before (in the sense that the volume has to be higher before those issues happen). Sorry for not posting it, thought I had. As for the cheater plug, totally forgot about that while I was in the city! I did go to our little rink-a-dink hardware store here but they don't carry it, and the closest "big city" is a ten hour drive! but I'll check to buy one next week.

David, I don't have cable (satellite) but I'll get a ground isolator when I visit the factory next week anyway (just in case).

When you take it up to Axiom, it wil be determined right away if it is a ground loop or not. If they fire it up and they find it is operating normally then you will have to find the culprit in your system that is causing this. Othwerwise I hope they have a EP800 ready and waiting for you.

If you don’t have a cheater plug available you might be able to fit the EP800s power cord to an old two prong extension cord if you have one laying around.

Also just for kicks try plugging it into an outlet on a different circuit and see what happens.

I would call Axiom and see what they say if your getting the hum by completing the circuit with your finger.

If you have sattelite then the ground isolator will not be the solution for you.

Okay, new development. It is definitely a ground issue! I put the ground screw back in all the way and low and behold, the continuous vibration stopped immediately. yay for me, right? NOT QUITE... put in the a movie and sure enough, when a scene big rumble scene came on... the drivers continued to rumble even though the scene was done and there was just dialog going on.

And when there was a large thump in a scene the drivers thumped continuously in rapid succession...

When I loosened the screw, those issues stopped but, you guessed it, the continuous vibration was back.

Maybe if someone from axiom reads this they'll be able to give me some other ideas before going on my road trip.

Did you ever give them (Axiom) a call? If not, now is the time.
