Would the performance of the M60 better (especially 2.1 music) if I ran my Marantz SR6003 pre-out to my SVS PC12+, then from there drive my M60?

I heard that this would made the sub better integrated with the L/R using x-over from the sub.

Would this mean that my AVR would drive other speakers with more juice by taking away the L/R from them?

How should I configure the AVR x-over if I connect it this way?

Michael, the people you heard this from apparently aren't very knowledgeable on the subject. First, there is no internal crossover in the sub; it's only a low pass filter which rolls off the sub above the selected frequency. It has no effect on the speakers, even if they're wired through the sub (that's just a straight through connection carrying the power from the receiver without any processing inside the sub). The L/R speakers are still powered by the receiver; the internal sub amplifier can't power anything except the driver in the sub.

The bass management of the 6003 does a precise job of dividing the frequencies between the sub and speakers when the speakers are set "Small" with an appropriate crossover, typically 80Hz.

Enjoy the music, not the equipment.

I agree with John. There is no reason to place anything between your receiver and your mains if your receiver has an LFE out.

Perhaps someone was referring to a more common practice of running a sub off of either the left or right main speaker because they have an older receiver that doesn't actually have have an LFE channel (Sub Out.) Therefore, all you can do is piggyback your sub off either the left or right front channels.

The EP500 supports this option with Line In and Line Out connectors but it's not necessary if you have a discreet LFE Out on your receiver.

I was going to agree with John, Andrew and Randy, but now I'm not sure.

Half of communication is listening. You can't listen with your mouth.
