I had to Google her. {{insert Joke Here}}

Truthfully, I can't really claim to be a Joss Wheden fan, per se, because I've never really seen anything but Buffy and Dollhouse last year. Joyce and I have both Angel and FireFly sets on DVD, but we've never watched them.

But as much as I love the casting of Buffy, it's really the writing that makes me love the show, so I've gotta give Joss Wheden kudos for the end result.

Angel is very similar to Buffy except that he is the main character who unfortunately was one of my least favorites in Buffy. Cordelia actually makes the show for me until Spike shows up as a regular.

I’m really not a Joss Whedon fan. I just happen to really like Buffy and Firefly (though that one had to grow on me). Angel is ok and I don’t really have any interest in anything else he has done.

Not sure why I have a thing for Summer Glau. I mean come on next to Morena Baccarin? Just something about her quirky characters.

The Firefly series is at least 5 times better than the Serenity movie. The movie was a bone to fans who needed some sense of closure, but the experience was not even close to watching the Firefly season/series.

Just finished watching Albert Collins live at Montreaux ($5 at SecondSpin). '92 performance was off the hook. Sound was great.

'79 performance was, at times, a little too much guitar super-hero for me, but a surprise appearance by Gatemouth on "Frosty" was supercool. \:\)

I finished the second season of The Big Bang Theory the other night (good stuff), so tonight I'm back on Avatar: The Last Airbender. I'm enjoying it a lot. There's some genuinely funny stuff, and I'm pretty happy with how much thought they've put into the storyline.

Those fargin’ bastages at Netflix just shipped me 4 Blu-rays not on a weekend off:

Ghost in the shell 2.0
Angels & Demons
Terminator: Salvation
Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure

They were all listed as “Long” or “Very Long” waits so I left them at the top of my queue. False advertising I say. Looks like a day is in order now that I’m feeling a little Blu…. ;\)

Just watched “Ghost in the Shell 2.0.” It’s been long enough and I’d watched enough of other things that I’d forgotten a lot of how the story unfolded so it was cool to see it again. Also meant going back to the original to be sure what had changed.

The first most obvious change is the audio. Way better no contest. Right from the beginning all the speakers come alive with sound and the bass is much better. Later by comparing it was also clear that the surround and other effects were greatly enhanced.

Almost as quick as the opening music you see the first CGI enhancement, an added scene, with the Major surveilling a meeting. It fits into the storyline but it’s man purpose seems to be showing that naked CGI Major is way better looking than the cell animated one. Most of the rest of the CGI enhancements are exterior shots of buildings and helicopters. Overall it blends in pretty well but it’s also not earth shattering.

Popping in the original also reveals they’ve cleaned up the picture overall but this is not nearly as significant as the audio. Although the picture does look better than the original the colours seem a little muted.

Otherwise everything is pretty much the same as the original

Here’s what Blu-ray.com has to say about it.

Ooh, I'm glad to hear the audio is rockin'. I got my copy, but I haven't watched it yet. I like the main song in that movie a lot. I'll probably be blasting that one.

Just watched extended edition of “Angels and Demons” Blu-ray. I thought it was pretty good if a bit predictable. I guest the best sign is that it sure didn’t seem like 2.5 hours. While much of the picture was fairly dark when it did show bright scenes the colours were great. The uniforms of the Swiss guard were very cool looking. The music sounded great on the Axioms and a soundtrack like this makes me appreciate that Axioms don’t roll off the highs and that I held out for a room with a vaulted ceiling. Overall I’d recommend watching it but I don’t think there’s enough replay value to make it worth owning.

Finally finished up the most recent season of "Mad Men" last night. Quirky and stylish. I dig it.
