Go to the "Settings" category in about the middle of the list there's "System Settings", and under that, second from the bottom is "System Information". The first detail listed, "System Software" will tell you the Version. As of now the latest is 3.15.

OK, picked up the unit tonight. Everything tested out fine. Get home, get it set up and...

BD won't load. I had used the extras disc at the guys place and it was loading just fine. I cleaned a big fingerprint off the disc and it loaded OK, but there were a couple of secitons it had trouble with.

Is it possible the blue laser is on the way out or am I being paranoid?

Try a couple more discs. Have a look, make sure they're clean, there's 50 GB on each one of those discs, the bits are tiny. One thing I like about BDs is how durable their surface is, nearly impossible to scratch, so don't go easy on their wipe-down.
