I'm new to the site. I'm looking to upgrade my home theater setup. I currently have a acoustic research setup(ps2062main, psc25center...}. I listen to 70/30 home theater to music{I also do alot of gaming!!} I live in an apartment which is about 20x12 and, I sit 8feet away from my current speakers. My couch is against the back wall. What would you suggest I get to build a good system? {I will be powering with a sony str-da4es receiver}

m60, vp 150, and QS8.
if you want to spend the money m22 will also be awsome for your room.

Given the size of my room should I get the m22's or save for the m60's (20x12)?

Welcome!

Sitting 8 feet away from the speakers... the usual response around here would probably be to go with m22's + sub rather than m60's. My den is about 12x22, so pretty close to your area. My m22's are working beautifully in that area.

Regarding which to choose based on room size. The "general" advice I've been offered and read being offered of how far away to be from the speakers is that <10' is best for m22's, >10' best for m60's, and >15' best for m80's. Of course these aren't rules, but are echoed frequently around here.

Everyone will have a different opinion, but the way I see it is that for the price difference between m22's and m60's ($400 vs $800), that's about 60% of the cost of the SVS sub that I want to buy eventually :-). I'd rather upgrade to a SVS or HSU sub sooner rather than later. But again, that's me and my personal financial situation (and I'm rather new here, so wait for more seasoned advice before taking my advice to heart).

I'll definately give the nod to the VP150, I'm lovin' it!

Welcome, Mike. With your size room and listening position the M22s should be just right, with a sub if you want more bass. QS8s mounted on the back wall, if possible, and widely separated should be great for surround effects on music, movies and games.

Enjoy the music, not the equipment.

I will echo Peter's post.
My M60s are 8 feet away and getting a good stereo image can be a bit difficult. They really need a couple of extra feet apart or further away for better imaging.
