You know the same thing happened to me today with my DIY sub. Disconnected everything to move my 100lb+ enclosure and when I hooked everything back up SILENCE!

Spent the better part of half an hour looking for a loose connection from the receiver to the sub.

I was about to unmount the amp and driver when I noticed that I had accidentally turned the gain knob all the way down. Turned it back to it's correct position, and everything was fine!

Sometimes its something simple!

Good luck with your sub!

I would think the best way to install the woofer would be to lay the cabinet on it's back carefully, (to not damage any amp controls), taking the weight off the screws for mounting. Maybe easier in theory though, 'cause you need to have room to turn the sub over.
If you are looking to lay the sub on it's back to install the woofer, I would use some hockey pucks or similar object,ie. wood blocks, around the perimeter of the back to keep the amp switches and knobs from ever coming in contact with the floor.

Yeah, I agree... wouldn't want the knobs to get broken!

Hi There,

My EP500 just died under my hands after working without any problems whatsover since august 2008.
Here's what happened. I just swithed it off, disconnected the AV cord and shielded cable from my AV. Gentle turned the EP500 on it's side, and replaced the spikes with the rubber feet. I then connected all leads again and swithed it on. Big Silence... :-(
The green light is on and I can hear a very soft humming from the ac transformer I think. I have checked all the fuses - 6 in total - but no success, there all okay. If I switch the AC on and then off, I hear a very soft boem... but the EP500 simple refuses to output any sound (I made sure, it's not my AV, I ve got an old SW)
Before going into the hassle of shipping it back (I live in Belgium) I would like to know if there's anything else left which I could do myself. I was thinking in terms of opening the box and checking the wiring. What's the best way of opening the box - at the front (the driver) or at the back? In case of the letter which screws do I have to loosen. I do have a background in electronics. Would checking this myself void my warrantee?
I would be very grateful for advice as I am a bit stuck.
Thanks.

When you re-connected the cable to your receiver did you accidentally connect it to the wrong input?

Good point Lorenzo, often people connect to the ExtIn Sub jack versus the Sub Pre-out. \:\)

Grateful to all who replied to my post.

I have received confirmation from Axiom that I can open the box without having the warranty void, so I ll have a look at the internal cabling.

Again many thanks and a happy new year.

Yep, we could have told you that. \:\) Often, that is the first troubleshooting they will ask you to do before the expense of sending a new amp. Good Day

Just to let you guys know that after opening the box I indeed found loose wires. I reconnected them and all is okay now, back in business with a superb sub!

Thanks again to those who responded on my posting

Excellent! Glad it was something simple!
