I'm thinking about going to Imax for this one. Has anyone seen it yet. Do you think it would be worth the extra effort to go to an Imax?

FWIW, this will be the first movie I have gone to see in a theater in the last 1.5 years (well, except a couple of Imax things)

I haven't seen it yet, but I'm hoping to catch it when I'm in the Seattle area this weekend visiting my sister. (Oh, Tom, I didn't know about this until a couple of days ago, and then I didn't think to warn you. I'm sure you have enough family things to keep you busy all weekend, anyway, but I really do need to remember to set something up with you next time I'm headed up that way.) But yeah, I'm hoping we can make it to a nice theater to see it. I'm kind of doubting we'll get to an IMAX, though. If you do see it in IMAX, let us know how it was.

I thought it was great in 3D, unfortunately I don't have an IMAX nearby or I would go again.

No IMAX around me either, but I did catch it is 3D. I thought that it was a "traditional" story, but the effects and acting was done really well. I really enjoyed it.

We ahve an IMAX about 4 miles away from the house... but still skeptical about paying the $12 per person or whatever it costs for the IMAX version.. maybe just wait until bluray like everything else

We really like to go to movies at the IMAX, even though it is an hour away. It is a very small premium compared to the local multiplex, and is a movie experience that is vastly superior to our home.

Yes, Charles, let's do get together!

The movie was hyped as being revolutionary. It is a good movie but I would not consider it to be great. If you like that kind of story, I think Dances With Wolves is a lot better. Avatar is a beautiful movie, and had solid actors but I think the dialog was poor. I saw the 3d version and I didn't really like the 3d that much. It distracted me from the movie instead of enhancing for me.

My buddy and I went to see it at an IMAX screen on opening weekend.

That was my first big IMAX movie. Really wanted to see Dark Knight there but it just didn't happen.

Not sure what was more impressive, the IMAX screen or the really good 3D; perhaps the combination. Whatever the case, super impressive presentation. We can debate the story, but the visuals were just simply tremendous.

We sat in the second row, and there were so many things that were popping off of the screen. Those 1/2 bowl-shaped command consoles... cool!!

If it's not too much effort/cost to see it in IMAX for you, I say "highly recommended".

Well thats an interesting range of comments. I think I'll go ahead and see it on IMAX. Its a bit of a drive, but what the heck.

I already know the dialog sucks and the story is conventional. I'm in this for the 3D and to see how it all comes together as a package.
