Watched “The Girl Who Leapt Through Time.” Here’s a pretty good review:

At first I didn’t think I was going to like this but quickly forgot about that and at the end wished it hadn’t. This seems like it should have been a series rather than a movie.

I somehow thought it would be worse, despite the good things I'd heard, but I'm glad to say it's decent so far.

Did you order the DVD or are you watching on TV? I saw it straight through on the DVDs (my preferred way of watching all series now) and liked it much more than I expected. Have to admit to seriously crushing on Summer Glau which may be a factor.

I'm still trying to figure out why people like Summer Glau. On the other hand, I do like Lena Headey's face. When she was on Letterman, she must have had some makeup, because she looked younger. She definitely looks older as Sarah Connor, but not in a bad way.

I'm watching the Blu-rays. I'm down to the last episode in the first season.

I watched a trailer for The Girl Who Leapt Through Time about a week ago, and I also got the impression I wouldn't like it, but the positive word-of-mouth I'd read made me think I'd have to give it a chance. With your thumbs-up thrown into the mix, I'll definitely have to watch it sometime.

If you do let me know since I figured I was one of the few who did.

I'm not really aware of her actual approval rating. It just seemed like I read an inordinate amount of love for her because of Firefly, and I didn't really care for her character too much. I didn't really care for any of the characters in that series, though, which I know makes me weird, since I have to read so much about how great Joss Whedon is and how his characters are what make his shows.

I have to admit that the first time I saw an episode of “Firefly” I didn’t care for it. Then I watched “Serenity” and liked it and decided to get the whole “Firefly” series and found that with the exception of a couple episodes really liked it. Glau’s character was my favorite probably because I’ve always liked “not-quite-normal-human” trying to cope with humanity type characters (e.g. Spock, Worf, Seven of Nine, Rommie…) Other than that she reminds me of an ex-girlfriend I couldn't begin to explain why I think she’s attractive. Come to think of it not sure why the ex was attractive either.

As for Joss Whedon, I haven’t drank the cool-aid. I really liked “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” once it was in syndication and didn’t have to wait a week at a time for each episode. If you think about it “Buffy” is nothing more than a live action version of a magical girl anime. However, “Angel” barely tolerable. Never cared for the Angel character even in “Buffy.”

Similarly I didn’t care for “Farscape.“ At first I thought it was stupid but then SciFi did an marathon, showing all the episodes before “The Peacekeeper Wars” debuted and I found I also really liked it.

I have to admit I've never seen an episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, only a couple random pieces out of all of the time it was on the air. I did watch the movie, though I don't think that really counts. Ha ha.

Someone I used to talk to more regularly online used to try to get me to watch Farscape, but I haven't gotten around to it yet.

Thanks for the heads up I haven’t been watching much TV and hadn’t heard about that one. I thought that Whedon swore he would never work with FOX again…?

I think Eliza Dushku had to convince him.
