Yes, Waterloo is renowned for its excellence in many disciplines. In matters relating to audio technology Drs. Stanley Lipshitz and John Vanderkooy are noted for their research and debunking of some audio mythologies.

BEng is 4 year undergraduate program. A lot do not finish within the 4 years. The departments that I am aware of is Electrical, Mechanical, Materials and Engineering Physics. Depending on the school you can have the option to graduate with "honours" in which one of your courses in your final year will be to write a extensive undergraduate thesis research paper.

I am aware of Waterloo's exclusivity, I was mostly refering to the fact that it is a very hard discipline to graduate with.
