Hey All

Can anyone give me the dimensions of the T Brackets that come with the the QS4s and QS8s?

I'm getting close to my purchase date and I'm planning the room. My room is one of those where I can't realistically mount the surrounds on the side walls. The Right wall is fine, but the left wall is too far away... I ~could~ mount it to the rear wall on the left side, but I'm being picky here.

I have a suspended ceiling and I'm thinking of attaching a (nicely finished) (ASCII art concept below) piece of wood to a joist and having that piece of wood come down to 3' above the listening level on the left side of the couch so it is exactly opposite the right Surround Speaker. Of course, I need the dimensions of the mounting bracket so I can make this "arm"... maybe I should look at putting the arm on a locking system so I can remove it if I need to temporarily rearrange the furniture...

Do I sound crazy?

Just measured my QS8 T bracket for you.

Just shy of 9 inches wide by 5 inches tall - about an eighth of an inch shy in both directions.

Thanks CB919

One more question... Since the Surround speakers are supposed to be "just a little behind" the listeners, I'm also considering mounting the QS speakers to the rear wall, hopefully at a 45 degree angle so it buts up agains the right wall. The left wall it would essentially hang out there.

Looking at the pics of the QS speakers and the Full Metal Bracket, I don't think the FMB will do the job. Can anyone correct me, or propose an alternative mounting method? If not, my suspended plan will do.

Thanks

Due to placement issues I have my QS8's mounted on the back wall in my 5.1 setup (couch is pushed up against the back wall too). I just mounted them flush to the wall with the supplied T bracket and they sound great. They are about 5.5-6 feet high and spread out about as much as the room will allow. There is really no need to "aim" the QS8's in toward the listening position.

I am going to be mounting my QS's facing in towards my seating area and then trying them mounted 45deg. across the corner mounted to a board that is running across the face of the corner and then run it in which ever configuration that sounds the best to me, but I expect to find very minimal differences.

@Dave/terzaghi: Yeah, I know I'm being picky and perhaps silly. I know could probably mount QS8s backwards, under the couch and light them on fire and they'd STILL sound great but I'm really excited to ~finally~ get a good sound system for movies.

In terms of aim for the speakers, the couch is agains the back wall so I was thinking at 45 degrees, the forward side will aim in front of the listener and the other behind.

@jay/jakewash: Excellent! When you've tested it out, could you let em know which worked better for you?

Thanks again
