Ok
So not sure yet.
What is better for Home Theatre 100% Book shelves and two subs or Towers/subs

For 100% music pair of towers and two subs? ok this is a given

But for Movies what is the best setup. 6 x M22's and a VP150 or 2 x M22 a VP150 and 4 X QS8's.

I am thinking I want the best for music listening and for music.
so I think I may go with two systems now. M80's and two EP500's with an Emotiva UPA2 and there Stereo pre/pro.

For Home Theatre I am not sure, but I really, really love the M & K either 750thx or the 851's and two EP500's.

However, it would be nice to be able to use the same EP500's so it may be to cumbersome> Maybe I am going too far .

I would be cautious using Emotiva with m80's, many, me included have had issues with Emotiva shutting down driving the 80's. Others have not had problems, but it has been hit/miss. What receiver are you using, and how big is your room? That will determine what you need and if you need amps.

really crap I was going to go with the XPA-3 for the fronts and use the 2 x UPA-2 for the rears. And I odn't want to get into returns specially when shipping to USA. Wonder if I should go with the Denon 8300 thats a 3ch and could use it for the fronts and let the Denon run the rears.

Does Emotiva still have issues with speakers? wonder if this is just a 4ohm issue, because the M&K's are 4ohm also.

I thought you loved your Emotiva, I know you had problems but thought you got it worked out? that was a few years ago wasn't it?

I think I should go with a Denon 38xx or 43xx and just get a 8300 and run the fronts and let the Denon deal with the rears. I'd go with Krell \:\) but ahh figure I would save a few bucks ;\)

Yes, I worked with Lonnie at Emo for many months to get my MPS-1 monoblocks to stop shutting down, at what I would call "not high" levels. Hell, even during explosions in action movies they would shut down. It is possible they have things worked out, but they blammed the Axiom 80's. Others on this forum have had no issues with their amps, so you might be ok. Emo was fine to work with and gave me back all my money many months later...

I owned some Odyssey Khartago Extremes for a few years, and could not have been more happy. In reality, I found that I really didn't see much difference in my Denon 3808ci driving everything, and I have a humongo cavern for a room.

I guess before you assume you need all these amps, I would try a decent AVR first, you may find that you will be just fine. How big is your room, and how loud do you really play things?

I used to have a Denon 3805 and it ran them quite fine> just want to aliviate the whole reviever issue. I was wanting to run seperates this time. That way also, in the future if I need to upgrade I just need to upgrade the pre/pro.
room is/will be when finished about 15 x 21 for the main part and an additional 8ft for the entrance popcorn type room> Kinda like a entry and it will be divide there with a walk through in the middle just behind the second row. also cieling is about 8ft avg

Have you checked out any of the Outlaw products? they seem to offer good bang per $$.

I looked into them, but may again. the issue is ordering from USA in that if you need warranty or repairs it gets costly

there is no "best" speaker for HT, it depends on a lot of factors. For example, room size would determine what type of speaker to go with...no different than music.

For me in my room the best setup is 3 M80s across the front which gives me a perfect front soundstage for both movies and music including multi-channel. QS8 surrounds and rears but could probably get by with M2 rears. QS4 height speakers and M2 wide speakers.

Although it’s recommended to use identical speakers all the way around I’ve found that for almost everything movies, music including the multi-channel stuff the QS8s beat direct radiating speakers as surrounds and often rears depending on the distance.

But as was said it depends on your room and any other constraints. ;\)

I have used both QS8s and M22s as surrounds in my HT and I preferred the QS8s for both HT and music. They really are fantastic surrounds.

yeh, I was thinking 3 M80's but, not sure I like the perforated screens> specially if I am 12 ft from the screen. just seems like some of the sound would be lost. I mean they say the from of the grills are specially made and you hear people say they hear the diference with the stupid grills off and on. Like what difference would be heard with a vinyl screen with holes in front of the speakers is gonna do. QS8 for surrounds is a given, however may go with M22's or M80's. This is what I was wanting to know I get the same three speakers up front ,and QS* for surrounds and that a direct speaker is best for the rears.

My medic8n plan is showing bbig rewards so far. You're almost out of the woods, bbigwyres. I followed most of what you just said with minimal effort. You just lost me a little bit at the end.

one of these days I am going to proof read before clicking submit.

yes, I was thinking 3 M80's across the front but, I am not sure I like the perforated screens ...yet. specially if I am sitting 12 ft from the screen. It just seems like some of the sound would be lost behind the vinyl. I mean, some people say they notice a difference with just the fabric grills. I think this is not true and that the grills are specially made for sound to go through. If this is true, what difference would be heard with a vinyl screen with holes in and speakers behind is gonna do. The QS8 for surrounds is a given, however may go with M22's or M80's for a centre channel speaker. This is what I was wanting to know I get the same three speakers up front ,and QS8"s for surrounds and that a direct speaker is best for the rears.
