Thought of one more, relatively obscure WWII movie worth seeking out - The man Who Never Was.
"The Man Who Never Was is a nonfiction 1953 book by Ewen Montagu and a 1956 World War II war film, based on the book and dramatizing actual events. It is about Operation 'Mincemeat', a 1943 British Intelligence plan to deceive the Axis powers into thinking Operation 'Husky', the Allied invasion of Sicily, would take place elsewhere. To create the illusion of a plan for England to invade Sardinia and/or Greece, a dead body is to be procured, allowed to be found with secret papers on him by Spanish authorities who will send the papers on to the Germans, or that's the plan."

Man, I would have hated to be the guy that stood up when it was shouted: "I need one, single volunteer for a very important miss...BANG!"

Interestingly, they wanted the body to appear to have been in a plane that crashed into the Mediterranean so they had to find a guy who had actually drowned. No gunshot wounds. True story, but dramatized, of course.

The Brits were masters at the art of deception in the intelligence arena. Scary.

There are, of course, many more but I gotta go eat breakfast. Good to see your name pop up again, Bren. Watched "Run Silent, Run Deep" last night and thoroughly enjoyed it! Thanks for the recommendation, Jack. Next I'm going to try "Sahara" as I am a huge Bogart fan.
