I'm sure a lot of you can identify the planes here better than me, but it's pretty cool.

I google earth it every now and then to see what's been recently added, my step father used to be stationed at Davis- Monthan whenever he was a crew chief on the U-2s ... cool place. I've found some neat aircraft graveyards while google earthing airports in some of the east European countries.

Next time your on google earth, check out the naval base in Newport News, Va and try to count the cars in the parking lots across from where the aircraft carriers are docked ... it's quite a handful.

Amazing.

I saw a documentary a while back where WW2 had ended and the British had thousands of allied planes lined up at one of their airfields for scrapping. They had these giant sort of scissor machines to literally cut the planes up into pieces....it was a shame to see history disappear like that, but I suppose there wouldn't have been too much use for so many military aircraft, plus it was a way for Britain to 'cleanse' memories of the war.

There must be some Tank Graveyards, too, I would presume.

That's awesome.

It's sad to see the F-14's like that though \:\(

Edit: I wonder how much money is sitting there... Just crazy

Hey, I just saw that it's in Tucson! I definitely need to plan a trip to go over there and visit. I hope it's open to the public?

They do shoot movies there from time to time.

I’ve been to DM a few times. The Air Force use to run tours back when I was a kid and I got to go a couple times. Now if you want to tour you have to go through the Pima Air & Space Museum, but i've never tried them.

I haven’t been there for a couple years and that was only to go fix my aircraft that had to make an emergency landing there. In some ways the best view is actually flying over the place but I’m pretty sure it’s restricted airspace.

Heh... I was observing that there were mysteriously no SR-71s or U-2s in the picture.
