So far i have listened to these speakers in order to help me decide what im going to buy .
Kef C7 $800 a pair , were not bad but what i am currently using blew them away .
Totem Sttaf's , $1600 a pair , imaging and sound quality was very nice but with a 5 1/4 inch driver im afraid the bottom end would not be enough without a better quality sub then i am currently using but i plan to upgrade down the road .
PSB Imagine T Tower Speakers at $2400 a pair , wow these things sounded muffled and imaging was not great as compared to the sttaf's
B&W 684 $1300 a pair , great imaging , high was not too bright which is important and mid base was nice as well .
Next on list is hopefully a drive to Peterborough to visit Wheelz to listen to his M80's and to Burlington to visit Hay to listen to his M60's .
Reason i am buying a new set of speakers is a complicated story .
On boxing day it started with buying a new Alpine cd player to replace my factory stereo in my car then next thing you know the door speakers and even though they were far superior speakers the bass actually got worse so then mounted a 10 inch sub in the place where factory sub would be and that did not to the trick so mounted 10 inch in box and still not good enough so then i traded Image Dynamics 10 for 12 inch and after 3 boxes i finally found one which would give me the bottom end i was looking for along with a new more powerful sub amp .
Now it gets better , i sold the Alpine CDA-105 cd player and bought the Apline CDA-9887 which is a great head unit .
So still not having decent mid bass up front , i stole two of the 4 Image dynamics 6.5 inch speakers from my towers and now mid bass and sub bass in the car sounds great .
So what started out as a bright idea on Boxing day turned out to be quite the endeavor , the good thing is i do at the car stereo work myself with the help of a friend who owns an installation business.
So beware when you think you have a bright idea . :-)
Im hoping that after listening to the Axioms my quest will end and i can order a pair along with VP150 and relax .

Just how much bass are you looking for? Based on your car audio description, i doubt many floorstanding speakers of typical size will fulfill your preference. You may not have a choice but to include a sub of quality into your system. SVS tubes make for a huge bass content if one prefers, and at reasonable prices.

Why not use the subs for music too?

After a Visit to the Axiom plant in late June to compare the M60's to the M80's i decided to order the factory outlet M80V-3 .
They arrived this morning and i couldn't be happier from my initial listening .
Imaging of course was great and these speakers go real low which is what i was looking for in my original quest .
When im listening to two channel there is no need for my sub .
Again thanks to Debbie/Noreen and Amie for there hospitality when i visited.

Visited the Axiom plant in late June? I'm surprised you weren't frisked by the G8 police in Huntsville! "What is the nature of your business here....?" "I'm looking to compare the M60 and M80...." "WHAT? M60? M80? IS THAT SOME KIND OF WEAPON!!?...HANDS ON YOUR HEAD WHERE I CAN SEE THEM!!"
Half of communication is listening. You can't listen with your mouth.

My new pics are online Listened to my reference cd which is Lyle Lovett (Step inside this house ) and all i can say is wow . I have heard this cd with so many speakers and there have been very few that have sounded good to what i was looking for . War of the Worlds with my new front end as well as the SVS sub is freaking amazing .

I agree. OTOH, in stereo, I run my M80s large with the sub on. So I'm nuts, anyway.

It really depends on the music. When I first got my system, I flipped back and forth between 2.1 and 2.0 and found that there was no real difference for a lot of music because there is no content below 40Hz (Clapton unplugged was one I tested).
For my pipe organ disc, there is a definite difference.

For my pipe organ disc, there is a definite difference. I guess it also might depend on room. I was listening to Simply Red "Picture Book" and the last song on the cd really shows the dynamic range of these speakers with 2.0 . The kick drum was hitting me in the chest which i love as being a drummer.
