Is the vp100 suppose to snap into position like the m22 in wall speakers? More specifically, the m22 speakers slide roughly 1/4 inch and snap into position. Is the vp100 suppose to slide one way or the other and snap into position? For the life of me I can't get it to go if it is suppose to. The manual says it does, but I can't get it.

I'm assuming you mean the W100 speaker. I have this and, yes it does snap into position. Check the bracket, it might be that you have it upside down. I did this when I first installed them and they wouldn't snap into position.

Yeah the VP100 is not meant to be inwall mounted so no snap.

Axiom seems to have dropped the W designation from the in/on walls--they're all VP100s, now.

I never noticed that. I've changed my signature line to bring it up-to-date.

My guess. They are converting all of the on-wall/in-wall to on-wall only, because of installation problem issues like I'm having.

I thought the same thing, so I turned the speaker upside down and tried it that way, pushing left and right. Still no joy.
I have really pushed on it. Not sure what else to try??

After looking carefully at the mounting bracket and the speaker itself I have come to a conclusion.
The speaker itself has 4 sets of "guides-slides" or whatever you want to call them.
The mounting bracket has 3 pairs of grooves. One set on each short side and one set on a long side.
I think the design is meant to work like this.
Mount the bracket in wall with the top having the grooves.
Put the speaker in and push back until the speaker guides go past the grooves, then the speaker "falls into position. The bottom guides fall over the edge of the bracket, holding the speaker in place. It does not lock as securely as the w22 speakers do, but at least it stays in position.
If anyone else has the time, take a look at your wall mounting bracket.
Another point. If you look at how tight the speaker fits into the bracket, you will see that the speaker only has about 1/8 inch clearance. So there really is no way for the speaker to slide in the vertical direction.
I think Axiom has the directions wrong. I am going to write them and find out for sure.

That's the best idea. Include some pictures if you can.

You have it right now after flipping the bracket.

I just got confirmation that the speaker does indeed drop down, not slide left. I will inform Axiom that the pdf instructions on the specs page indicate that the speaker should slide left and lock.
Good think I asked, I was starting to bully the speaker around. Not a good thing.
