I liked Brandon League's potential, and when he was on his "stuff" was very good. Just to inconsistent and really showed it last year. That said, I like the trade overall for Morrow and the value we received.

So where's Jesse Carlson? He is another guy that has showed flashes of brilliance from the bullpen, but has struggled mighty as well.

Another comeback win for the Jays!

My boy Halladay pitched another complete game win for his career! Sick stats in his first 2 games, the guy is tits! So Phillies fans how do you like him on your team? With your bats and potential run support, 25 wins is possible.

I'm lovin' Doc so far. It's nice that the Phils didn't have to score 8 to win a game. Gotta be able to pick up those low scoring 2-1 victories once in a while too. Can't expect an offensive explosion every day.

And JohnK...the DH? To me it is more like one of the leagues won't admit it is a bad idea and get rid of it. I love having the pitcher bat. It adds a lot more strategy to the game. Do I pinch hit or not? Sacrifice? Double switch? It just makes things a lot more interesting, instead of having a guy that often seems to be past his prime, can't field anymore, so all he does is go up and swing a bat a couple of times a game.

The Doc is not use to much run support. There are countless games where he was the losing pitcher in a 1-0 2-1 ball games with the Jays and pitched a complete game! Since the Doc is a ground ball pitcher even when he gets into trouble with guys in scoring position with less than 2 outs, he is able to get out of a lot of jams with double plays.

Now if the Doc is pitching brilliantly does the skip pull him in the 7th or 8th for a bat or keep him in? Now this makes things a bit more interesting now that he is in the NL.

As a longtime fan in an AL city, I totally agree that the DH sucks.

What REALLY infuriates me - beyond the basic concepts you've outlined - is that we get no relief during interleague play (which is another abomination).

If we must have interleague play (that "natural rivalry" between the Padres and Mariners is scintillating every year), let's at least play NL rules in AL parks and vice-versa. Sure, it would somewhat diminish the home field advantage, but it would bring some life to the interleague schedule.

Of course, the DH has been "the rule" in the AL for nearly 40 years. As such, the greatest DH in the history of baseball (Edgar Martinez) deserves to be in the Hall of Fame.
