Wow...I hate to see the analysis you would put into buying an automobile or house...or deciding to get married! :-)

Yeah. What Mike said.

I have nothing of value to offer except the LL Bean site gave me a pop-up that they currently have 10% off and free shipping (ends Monday). And I know they'll take anything in return because we have an outlet store here in town that gets all those returns.

Get it monogrammed and give me a heads-up if you return it. I'll look for your specific bag in a week and buy it at half price.

Um, "thanks".

Mark, why don't you drive over to that LL Bean store, fondle that bag, and report your findings?

Mike, I am guilty of overanalyzing. Fortunately, I don't have to make decisions that really matter very often wink

I thought I had nothing to add but I was curious to know what you were looking at and I gotta say I did an out loud, "WTF" when I opened the Red Ox page and the selling captions was.....

“I'M FOR CPA'S WHO LIKE TATTOOS AND FIREARMS.”

Seriously though. That one is pretty ugly also.

Also, the marketing for the Eddie Bauer bag reminds me of the J. Peterman's Catalog that Seinfeld's Elain worked for. Where every article of clothing in the catalog came with an eccentric sounding adventure story. I'm going to have to call you Mr. Peterman from now on if you buy that one.

Also, I love Mark but not enough to have him fondle my bag so the L.L. Bean one is out too.

There....
I've eliminated three for you. Aren't I helpful??

Depends on the 'look' you're going for. If you want eco/hipster vibe, lots of messenger bags to choose from: Timbuktu, Crumpler, Chrome, Rickshaw, Manhattan Portage, etc. I've used a Coach leather (ages well, looks great, but heavy), Chrome messenger, and Timbuktu computer bag (now). My migration was due mainly to the fact that I ride my bike to work sometimes and I need something durable, protective, and loud for my ride.

You don't have to spend a lot for leather either. I always dig the aged leather ones.

Here's a list:

OSB,
Until now, I was convinced that the only person on earth who knew that many brand names of leather bag$ was Chris' (lampshade) wife, Jaye. This could change my views about the future of "culture" itself.

This is the company who's products I buy.
http://www.saddlebackleather.com

They aren't cheap, but they have a 100 yr warantee, and you will likely never have a problem due to the way they over build their products.. I have several of their products and everything is awsome..
