After spending several hours this weekend hooking up all my new toys(4810CI, BDP-83, M2&M22 inwalls), I ran the Audyssey setup and wasn't very impressed with how it calibrated my speakers. It seemed like everything was at such a low volume. I ended up going in and turning my center channel up so I could hear things...not sure if anybody else has experienced a similar issue.

Now the reason I titled my Thread "Time Machine" is I think what will help my setup is the new VP-180. So can we hurry up and make it May 31st already?

With Pioneer MCACC, I experienced similar when my microphone was in center of room, but my seating position was off to one side. With MCACC, I can have up to 6 saved EQ settings. I use 4 of them as 1: Center of room for Movies, 2: Seating position for Movies, 3: Center of room for Music, 4: Seating position for Music.

HTG, how many positions did you use with Audyssey?

I have found anything less than 6 gave me poor results. I still turn the center up a db or 2 to enhance dialogue intelligibility, hopefully the 180 will help with respect to this as I run M80s.

I find it hard to believe the M22 inwalls would be a mismatch for the VP150, it sounds great with my M22's, but still I like to enhance the center by a db or 2, with this setup as well.

That might just have been my problem... I only ran it for two listening positions. Since it is just normally the two of us watching movies, I ran it in our two seats. Guess I will run it in several locations tonight and see what happens...

That is why your results are poor, you need to run the first location at a central primary location, then take the rest from locations to create a bubble around you, just don't take measurments outside of your speakers. The room needs to be dead quiet of all noise, and measurements taken at ear level from all locations.

When I ran my Audyssey I used 1 position and put the mic as close to the center of where my head would be as possible.

Sounds MUCH better with the Audyssey on, than off.

It helped for me.
